What Are Your Commuting Shoes?

CAD/Fame Pictures

Every morning, no matter how put-together our work outfit is, we almost always ruin it with our commute-friendly footwear. Right now, we’re bundling up with soft-soled tall boots (or even Uggs on the chilliest N.Y.C. days). We simply couldn’t make the trek to work any other way. Of course, once we’re there, we swap the sensible shoes for some stylish heels, but we can’t help but envy the women who seem to effortlessly wear their stilettos through their morning commute. And then there are the women, like Jessica Biel, who make flat-soled shoes look spectacular any time of day. Tell us: What kind of shoes do you wear on your commute? Do you wear your high heels? Do you change once you get into work?

Summer

Flip Flops — I drive stick and now I can barely drive my car wearing anything else. I hate the platform ones – they have to be completely flat and I need a new pair every few months b/c I wear them out!

Boots, boots, boots in the cold winter- from my Puma boots or knee-high Stuart Weitzman boots. Flats in the summer. Usually always change when I get to the office into more work-appropriate pumps. I love that this preserves my work shoes too.

Real women rarely wear high heels; they’re to busy running the world and need fotwear that can keep pace. Look at any successful person (who uses their brain for a living)and you’ll see flats on their feet. Can you imagine Bill Gates wearing stillettos? What an image. And this not-so-subtle suggestion that only high heels are sexy is just wrong–look at Angelina Jolie or George Clooney for that matter—neither wear high heels for extended periods–both wear flats most of the time.

Toss the Choos heels and slip into flat Manolos!

My commuting shoes range from flip flops, to Uggs to sneakers to flats; occassionally a heeled boot, but almost never a stiletto. Too many cobble stone roads and sidewalks to risk losing a heel!

Definitely wear my not-so-chique weather-proof black Timb’s to work then change into black Prada sport stiletto’s because they are so comfy. Would love to find chique/comfy boots to commute and wear to work during the winter though!

some pretty gold and white BCBG flats I found at Nordstroms (or Neiman Marcus)….they can be found at Baker’s now ;)

I always wear a pair of coordinating flats. I usually pick them up from Payless or Target and I try to change when I get to work, but I always make sure they are wearable enough to wear around the office in the event that I do not get to change my shoes until a few hours after I arrive.

I really hate Jessica Biel for some reason she seems like such a b*tch

It depends on the weather…in the summer its flip-flops, in the winter months it depends on the amount of snow the Northeast got pounded with b/c it could be Uggs or Timberland boots. In the fall/spring months I wear flats but make sure that they are cute and match my outfit. The ONLY time I will wear heels on my commute is if the shoe has a chunky heel and not a stiletto (cant risk another broken stiletto on the sidewalk, you’d be amazed how often thats happened)
