Not Your Average Book Party

John Shearer/WireImage

When Hamish Bowles signed copies of Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, People at the Oscar de la Renta boutique in West Hollywood on December 4, it was definitely not your average Barnes & Noble-style affair. Fashionistas, including Jacinda Barrett, Angie Harmon, and Jennifer Morrison upped the glam factor in elegant dresses from the designer. “I think it’s fantastic,” Barrett tells PEOPLE as she picked up her signed copy of the book, which includes Madonna’s English countryside retreat along with de la Renta’s posh pad on the coast of the Dominican Republic. “I’ve seen a lot of these stories in their original prints so I was very excited to come see the compilation,” added the new mom, who showed off her post-baby bod in a black and cognac print dress. While Harmon fawned over a sweater coat and jacket hanging on the racks, and Morrison pointed out a dress in the window which she had worn to a previous event, a vintage-clad Ginnifer Goodwin checked out the housewares, which were displayed upstairs in the first and only Oscar de la Renta Home store. “Do you think they’d notice if I took the mother-of-pearl-dinner tray and stuffed it in my purse?’” joked Goodwin. Despite getting spilled on earlier, Harmon sums up the night: “When you get Vogue and Oscar together in this setting, it’s just perfection.”

What Trends Are You Over?

LUIS GUERRA/RAMEY; Starsurf/Splash News

No matter how much we used to love it, sometimes seeing a look too many times (even on our fave celebs!) is enough to make us cringe. Our summer fling with colored frames is definitely finished. We were originally thrilled to see Wayfarers make a comeback, but by now, we’re a little tired of seeing red and white frames pop up on everyone from Sienna Miller and Mary-Kate Olsen to Drew Barrymore and Kirsten Dunst. It’s just too tough a look to work without a summer tan. But we want to know what you’re over! Tell us: What trend — fashion or otherwise — are you totally over and why?
