Hilary Swank Dishes On Her Charitable New Haircut

Jason Merritt/FilmMagic

Hilary Swank has never been one to shy away from going to great lengths for a role — whether it was her close crop for Boys Don’t Cry or gaining pounds of muscle for Million Dollar Baby — and her role as do-gooder is no different. Swank recently let Oprah Winfrey chop off a reported nine inches of her hair on TV to go to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. Prior to receiving her Time for Peace award, Swank told PEOPLE of her new do, “I love it. It’s great to change things up.” And as for what prompted the decision to cut her hair off for charity, the Oscar winner said, “To help a woman who is going through probably the biggest fight of her life with dignity… to be able to cut my hair off and help make a real hair wig for Pantene Beautiful Lengths it’s a great thing to be able to do.” We couldn’t agree more. She

She looks great and really did a good thing. The more attention is brought to the fight with cancer – the better, and the least such public people as celerities can do is to use their status for such causes. Thanks!

I feel guilty for not doing the same when i cut my hair a few months ago but it’s grown back so much, Hilary two thumbs up for you girlfriend and you still look beautiful!!

vonnie

i’ve always liked her with short hair myself…and its for a good cause, that’s even better :-)

She looks great and she did it for a good cause! I cut my hair a while ago for Locks of Love which is a cause that makes wigs for children who are cancer patients. I am glad she did this because it brings such an awareness to the cancer cause.

Charity

Love the cause, not the hair

Laurel

Love her hair cut. Wish they showed a “before” picture though.

Melissa

If she cared about the cause she should have donated some money to find a cure instead of getting a bad haircut.

Tara

Great thing for Hilary to do, but I wish her hair were a little bit more fashionable, this is just so boring, but I love that she donated her hair. I wish mine grew long enough to do that!

Susan

Her hair is a wreck, next time write a cheque and skip the butch haircut. Money does alot more for finding a cure.

Eva

With hollywood stars getting $10 and $20 million per movie, she could easily donated $1 million to cancer research and the encourage others to join in. Her hair is a mess, sort of a greasy Elvis look, and I am sure patients would rather a cure than a wig.
