i agree with sana: what with the whole “simple but chic” thing??? shes wearing a runner’s tank top and sweat pants. and just a little side note: not to be mean or anything but running a marathon in 5 and a half hours isn’t very fast so i don’t see what all the praise is about. i mean i guess if she feels good about herself thats great, but no need to kiss her ass about it.

Sally, different things require different degrees of error. This is journalism and a marathon, not rocket science (or any science period). I’m standing by that a 10% error is valid in this case (btw, I used to be a QA Engineer and I was good at it too). And it’s great to see that people are nitpicking correct spelling (look up “tho” in the Websters dictionary, it has its own entry), good for you.

Anyhow, it’s good to see Katie (or anyone else) running a marathon.

I have those pants that Katie wore and the FDNY hat, although I had my pants and hat before her. I’m with some others here…what’s the big deal? Katie ran a marathon, which I’ve done before as well. I’m pretty sure you can find a tank and pants anywhere to buy, LOL. Why all the attention?

Depending on where you live, you can’t actually buy anything. The lululemon website doesn’t seem to offer shopping, and my area doesn’t have a store yet. I liked the pants, too, so it’s too bad. They’re reversible, which is handy.

Mary, thank you for showing me that you can multiply. Good job. Gold star for you, “tho” your spelling could use a little fortification. Your reading comprehension could use the same. The “perspective” comment appeared in the sentence relating to Oprah’s run. People are making a big deal about Holmes’ run when an overweight 40-year-old woman ran over an hour faster. That is the “perspective” of which I’m speaking.

As for a 10% error being valid, let’s just say I’m glad you’re not responsible for anything involving quality control, the national budget, or missile launches. Ciao.

fashionexpert, your argument makes little sense. If we were talking about running one mile, and Katie ran it in, say, 40 minutes (highly unlikely given that most people can WALK a mile in less than that), and the media reported it as “just over 10 minutes”, then yes that is a problem. But this is a marathon. Katie ran almost 30 minutes past 5 hrs. 30 minutes is merely 10% of 5 hrs. So for the media report “just over 5 hrs” is valid (tho it could be a bit of a stretch).

So, please have some perspective and do a bit of math next time.

A little journalistic integrity, please. If 5 hours, 29 minutes, 58 seconds is considered “just over 5 hours,” then you have a severely warped sense of time. If your date or your husband showed up at 5:30pm instead of 5pm for dinner, would you say it was “just over” 5pm? Not likely.
By the way, Oprah finished the Marine Corps marathon over an HOUR faster (4:29:20) than Holmes’ NYC clocking, despite being 40 years old (12 years older than Holmes) and overweight. Perspective, folks.
