Jennifer Connelly’s Balenciaga Outfit: Love It or Hate It?

Jennifer Connelly has never been the kind of actress to shy away from tough roles — or tough clothing choices. We’ve spotted the Reservation Road star in Balenciaga before, even as recently as Monday night. But we were still a little startled by her choice of outfit for the film’s L.A. premiere last night — her fresh-off-the-runway square shoulder Balenciaga dress and woven sandals with gold heels are certainly the cutting edge of fashion, but are these looks better left on the runway? Jennifer told PEOPLE at the premiere that she picked her outfit because “I really liked it. He’s my favorite designer. The shoes are FABULOUS and with something simple…but the dress is hideous.

Eww, Jennifer looks hideous. She’s a beautiful woman, but I guess she can’t dress herself. She needs a REAL stylist.

Yes, this dress should stay on the runway, although I see someone like Paris Hilton wearing this. The pattern on the dress is hideous and loud, and the style of the dress just looks really off to me. She can’t even carry the dress right if you ask me, she looks all stiff, this dress belongs on someone who can WEAR this dress and own it. Plus, she’s already wearing a loud colorful dress, and she decides to wear those shoes? The shoes are okay, although I would prefer them in either a solid black color or solid white color, not really both, but since they’re both colors, these shoes would have worked if she went with a solid color dress, with a much more better style, nothing too fancy. Maybe a strapless black dress that sits a few inches above her knees, with her hair down with just a touch of style like soft but not too much noticeable waves.

I like the dress – I think it’s a bold choice and she wears it well. Enough with the boring, safe clothes, that are just black, or white, or a combination of both. But I must say, I really don’t like the shoes
