Take A Virtual Walk Across the Country For Breast Cancer

courtesy galtogalwalk.org

Don’t put in for your vacation yet — without leaving your office, walk from Harvard Square in Boston, MA, to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and everywhere in between. The chic stationery site, Design-HerGals.com is making virtual history with the launch of their cross-country online walk. For just $3 you can design your own character, who will join other virtual walkers (invite friends and family to come along) — all profits from the walk will go to the Gal to Gal Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Stage IV breast cancer patients and their families. You will also be able to purchase other products on Design-HerGals.com with your character and all the profits from those sales will go to the Foundation. Pre-registration is on now, with the official walk taking place from October 1st to October 31st. For more information and to sign up go to galtogalwalk.org

No offense, but I’m going to walk for medical research, I’d rather do it for real and get some good exercise out of it.

Sounds like a good idea. Some people can’t walk, or they have to work, and this is there idea of helping. I am going to make someone AND walk.

I just finished a 3-day walk, and I am excited to see that there is an option for those who don’t have the time — or are too sick to walk — to have a way to participate! I’m joining now!

This is such a clever idea! Never thought I’d get to “walk” alongside my favorite CSI gals- Marg Helgenberger and Jorja Fox! I’m sending this around to my friends, what a good cause.

What a great idea and I love my Moms Rule gal! Take 3 minutes and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most – what an amazing fundraiser!

It is totally addictive. Go to Find a Friend, enter your state and start reading some of the stories people have left. This is amazing and humbling and a really cool alternative to a “real” Cancer Walk.

Janelle

I love this…took me less than 3 minutes to create my ‘gal’…how fun. Now while my gal is walking around the country to raise money for a great cause I can go out and get some exercise as well! It’s about time someone took fundraising to a virtual level!

As much as I support the awareness of all cancers, I have been disappointed with the lack of attention ovarian cancer receives in comparison with breast cancer. Ovarian cancer is striking females younger and younger (my 22 year old roommate is going through chemo right now) and is called the “silent killer” because of the high number of women diagnosed with it each year, most of whom are in the late stages of the disease because its symptoms are not easily discernible.
