Get the Look: Katherine Heigl’s Emmy Beauty

Mathew Imaging/FilmMagic

Katherine Heigl’s elegant Emmy took its inspiration from another cool blonde, Grace Kelly. Makeup artist Monika Blunder kept the eye neutral, first applying Ombre d’Eau, a liquid-y eyeshadow, in Sand, $30, then brushing on a pressed eyeshadow in the champagne colored Dessert-Rose, $39, on top of that to give her eyes “a sparkling glow.” She dotted Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Ebene, $27, between her lashes, and then applied three coats of Inimitable Mascara in Noir, $28, on the upper lashes. Blunder brought out her cheekbones by contouring the hollows first with Powder Blush in Nude, $40, and then brushing the tops of the cheeks with Narcisse, $40, a light pink color. Before applying lipstick, she used Lip Definer in Red, $29, to fill in the lips. For Heigl’s bright red lips, Blunder chose Rouge Allure Lipstick in Lover, $30, because of its pink undertones. She finished the look by brushing on a bit of translucent powder to “help it stay throughout the show.”

Hair stylist Campbell McAuley created a complementary old school– yet modern– style to go with the makeup and went for a cool twist on the bun. He put Katherine’s hair in Velcro rollers when it was still wet, blew it dry and sprayed with Frederic Fekkai Coiff Fini Sheer Hold Hairspray, $23. Then he removed the curlers, except for two in the front and brushed out the curls, using Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream, $20, to set the hair. He divided the hair into three sections and then wrapped each section in a different direction to create three separate buns. He took the two front curlers out and worked back into the hairstyle to create a soft, touchable look on the top.

Ramey

Oh, Posh! We loved Victoria Beckham’s sexy Herve Leger dress at the Marc Jacobs show and her sophisticated Oscar de la Renta dress at his show — but when she stepped out to dinner with husband David over the weekend, she left us confused. Are those satin shingles on her Marc Jacobs dress or are they the largest pieces of fringe ever? Is she paying homage to a car wash? We think it’s fantastic that Posh is always willing to take a fashion risk, but they can’t all be sucessfull. . .or can they? We want to know what you think! Get the Scoop on Rebecca, Ellen and Debra’s Emmy Makeup!

While snagging your favorite star’s designer dresses may be next to impossible, getting their flawless makeup is definitely within reach. We got the scoop from the stars’ makeup artists on exactly what they used, so you can try it at home!

Rebecca Romijn: Makeup artist Troy Jensen of MSN Style Studio kept things pale and modern for the Ugly Betty star’s flapper-inspired vintage Guy Laroche gown. For her eyes, he used Estee Lauder’s signature eyeshadow duo in the matte white Sugar Cutie 3, mixed with four other pink shades and layers of Estee Lauder More than Mascara in black for an icy eye look. Jensen kept her face matte with Dior AirFlash foundation and put a mix of Dior powder blush in Peachy Keen, Revelon Colorstay in Buff and Victoria’s Secret mosaic blush on her cheeks. Jensen went with simple lips mixing pale pinks like Bourjois lipstick in Rose.

Ellen Pompeo: To balance the Grey’s star’s bouffant hair, makeup artist Joanna Schlip played up her eyes and brows in a silly but sexy twist on the 1972 classic What’s Up Doc?. Using DiorShow mascara to darken the eyelashes and Physicians Formula eye-definer felt tip eye maker, she created a severe black line across the top of the eye. For added color, she used Baked Berry blush by Physicians Formula to give Ellen a matte glow and highlight her cheekbones. For the lips she went with Dior Addict Plastic Gloss in Maniac Beige to pick up her natural lip tone.

Debra Messing: To go with her classic Ralph Lauren gown, makeup artist Carol Shaw kept things modern, fresh, relaxed — and yet very sexy with a smoky eye and pale lips. Using all LORAC makeup — Carol is the founder of the brand — she started with the Showstopper Palette for the eye color and then lined it with the long-wearing Front Of The Line eyeliner in black. She finished the eyes with several coats of the fiber mascara called Lotsa Lash. The rest of the star’s face was kept simple, with a hint of color added to her brows with the Creamy Brow Pencil in blonde and a pale lip with Kissing Scene lipstick and a top coat of Costar gloss.
