Tell Us: What Do You Splurge or Scrimp on?

Anthony/PacificCoastNews

For most of us, leaving Barneys with armfuls of clothes like Hilary Duff is a fantasy — not a reality. As we start putting together our fall wardrobes, we are definitely budgeting more for some things — designer denim and boots! — and less for others — pencil skirts and belts! We want to know how you spend your shopping money. Tell us: What fashion items are you willing to splurge on? What do you always save your pennies on?

Want your answer to appear in print? To have your comment considered for the next issue of PEOPLE’s StyleWatch, please INCLUDE your first name and last initial, your age and your hometown/state.

Get the Look: Jessica Biel’s Shag Haircut

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

We saw Jessica Biel go darker a few weeks ago for her role in Powder Blue, and this weekend she showed her a polished version of her brunette look while hosting 3rd Annual Pink Party benefiting Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Research Institute. Adir Abergel of Frederic Fekkai did Jessica’s hair for the event, showing off what he tells PEOPLE is a “modern shag. It’s the modern version of Jane Fonda’s haircut from Klute. The color is a rich auburn brown.” And Adir told us how he created Jessica’s low-key look for the event. He applied Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel, $23 at sephora.com, all over the roots before rubbing a dime size amount of Controle Ironless Straightening Balm, $25 at sephora.com, all over her hair to the ends. Using a two inch round brush, he blow-dried all of her hair forward to frame her face with the cut’s heavy layers. To finish the look, he pieced out the ends with Coiff Nonchalant Piecing and Forming Wax to give it extra texture.

Simply Vera Vera Wang Debuts At Kohl’s

jeff harris (2)

One of the most anticipated designer and retailer collaborations of the season, Simply Vera Vera Wang, has finally hit Kohl’s. While some lower-priced lines from big name designers look nothing like their top lines, this one has Vera’s signature moody feminity woven through out. Simply put, Simply Vera is fashionable, edgy and affordable. While a coveted Vera Wang wedding dress is priced in the thousands, her Kohl’s line starts at just $9. The collection consists of apparel, accessories, intimates and home — and if there isn’t a Kohl’s store near you, go to kohls.com to start shopping.

Here are some of our favorite pieces from the line:

Colorblock waist tie top, $48.
Small Date Hobo, $54.
Truffle Jeweled Satin D’Orsay Heels, $69.
Satin Colorblock Chemise, $200.

Stars Turn Out for Marc Jacobs

Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage

The celebs came out in full force for the Marc Jacobs show in N.Y.C. last night. From fashionistas like Victoria Beckham and Mischa Barton to famous friends like Courtney Love and Michael Stipe to fabulous fans like Heath Ledger and Sheryl Crow, the front row was packed with A-list stars. And they had a lot of patience — the 9 pm show didn’t actually begin until after 11 pm, with Posh (in vintage Herve Leger) slipping into her seat 15 minutes before the show started. She told PEOPLE that “New York is a little edgier than other cities. And I’m excited to see Marc’s collection. It’s always a great show, and a fantastic atmosphere. It’s very, very exciting.” And once the show started, it didn’t disappoint with the presentation running in reverse. Marc kicked off the collection with his thank you run, followed by the models doing their final group walk, and then breaking into their individual struts last. You might need to be brave to pull off this collection — transparency was the major theme.
