What's Your Favorite Drugstore Beauty Product?

Unfortunately, most of us don’t have unlimited budgets to spend on cosmetics, haircare and skincare. Luckily, there are tons of great beauty products to be found just a few aisles over from your laundry detergent and dental floss. Hair stylists, makeup artists and dermatologists consistently pick drugstore finds like Maybelline Great Lash and Cetaphil as their favorites — and we have more than a few of our own that we can’t live without. Tell us: What is your favorite drugstore beauty product?

Definitely Palmer’s Cocobutter lip balm!

Mine is covergirl trublend powder foundation in natural ivory. Unfortunatly trublend powder foundation no longer appears to be available in store (in alberta, canada anyways). So now I’m going to have to order online and pay for shipping!

Jem on

Revlon’s eyelash curler, the gold toned one. It is truly amazing.

Rimmel London nail polish! Their colors are so different, funky, and fun!

I swear by wet n’ wild black eyeliner. It’s the best dollar you can spend!

I cannot live without Blistex Lip Medix-its simple appearance deceives its true brilliance! I wear it all the time-before bed, during the day, and even to go out! The cooling sensation coupled with the glossy look is perfect for anytime of day.

Rachel on

Cetaphil lotion and cleanser. I’ve been using it for years!

My great budget beauty product is 3D Mascara from Revlon, the one in a silver tube. I love it. I finally found a mascara that makes my lashes full and long!!! And I love the price.

Jen on

Vaseline!! Obviously I use for dry skin, but I love to use as a natural lip gloss. Also you can use a thin layer to give some gleem to your eyelids/under your brows. Vaseline has endless purposes!!!

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Aquaphor! It’s great for chapped lips, dry cuticles, stubborn flyaways, unruly brows, and so much more! I never leave home without it. You can even mix it with an eyeliner to make an instant cream-like shadow.

I’m a truly fan of Almay’s production – skincare to beauty suff, because it has reasonable price and it’s hypoallergenic and fragrance free. I have been using their facial foam(antiagening) and their milky eyeshadow most. The last one is very good base and color for all eye makeup. And also non-waterproof eye-mascara. But for liquid make-up fundation i have been chosing some more expensive trademarks.

Almay One Coat Mascara! 2 coats and lashes look super long and thick!

Goody rubberbands are the best, especially the ones that dont have the metal piece because then they don’t tug at your hair.

Maybelline Full N’ Soft mascara is my favorite drugstore product and, dare I say, beats out many higher end mascaras, such as Chanel Inimitable and Kiss Me Mascara. This masara is great for the daytime, because it gives you a lush, dense feathery look that is defined, lengthened and multiplied.

Without question, my favorite drugstore beauty deal is LipSmackers Lip Gloss in Marshmallow (#617). I’ve been wearing it for almost 10 years and it provides just the right hint of shimmer without being sticky – plus it’s YUMMY! Sure, I have lots of expensive Chanel glosses, but the Marshmallow Lipsmackers is my reliable standby. It’s getting harder to find the marshmallow flavor at drugstores, so whenever I come across it, I buy out their whole stock. Luckily at $2 each, this isn’t hard on the wallet!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask its awesome! I love how my face feels after it! :) Smells/feels refreshing, refines skin, improves large pores, black heads, bumps and pimples, and is cheap! ;)

Lola on

I love Neutrogena cleansers; they’re so refreshing. Also, L’oreal Juicy gloss is awesome, and lasts forever.

Burt’s bees lip balm and Physician’s Formula lash in a tube. Two simple products that will make you feel dolled up. If you buy the sheer colors Burt’s Bees, you can double it as a blush for an instant glow!

My favorite drug store beauty product is Clean & Clear Morning Burst exfoliating daily scrub. I used to use Exfolience Clarte by Lancome, and tried this at a friend of mine’s house and got hooked! It is a better product and way better than 23 dollars a tube!

mascara: Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black. Doesn’t clump or flake EVER.

lip balm/gloss: Aquafina Hydrating Lip Oil. It works like a lip balm, but is glossy without being heavy or sticky. It’s also really versatile; I wear it alone for a natural look, over lipstick to gloss it up, or under lipstick to get a sheer wash of color.

face products: Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer.

Linda on

Can I only pick one? I love Max Factor stretch and lash mascara. I like CVS makeup remover wipes better than Ponds. Ponds made my face sting. I get compliments on my hair since I started using John Freida shampoo for brunettes.

I love my Aveeno Positively Radiant face wash and moisturizer. These products make my skin feel fantastic, plus keeping my skin healthy means less makeup!

Amber on

I love Loreal Voluminous Mascara it thickens and makes my lashes super dark. Maybelline Full n Soft is great for work and casual – it thickens and never clumps no matter how many coats I apply.

Stephanie Kirkpatrick on

I LOVE Cetaphil cream. It makes my skin so unbelievably soft!! Best product on the market IMO!

Desiree on

My favorite that I’ll probably buy forever is Maybelline’s Full and Soft very black mascara. It really does give my eyelashes a full look and it doesn’t weigh them down at all. I stock up on the waterproof and the regular.

Andrea on

Too tough to name just one, so here they are:

Cetaphil for facial cleansing – it removes even the most stubborn eye makeup without irritating my sensitive, combination skin.

Neutrogena Alpha-hydroxy Spf 15 Facial Moisturizer – again, works great on dry/combo skin

Aveeno Stress Relief Body Wash – has a soothing lavendar smell that makes me happy.

Lipsmackers clear gloss in kiwi-strawberry flavor – cheap, smells great, easy to use. Definitely a good alternative to expensive glosses, and works great on its own, or layered over your favorite colored gloss or lipstick.

Revlon Slanted Eyebrow tweezers – perfect for touchups between waxings and grab even the finest hairs with no problem.

Secret Vanilla Chai Clear Anti-Prespirant/Deodorant – it smells so darned good, and gets the job done without leaving unsightly deodorant marks. I can’t wear perfume, so this is a great way to have a subtle scent on my body without making my allergies flare up.

New ultra lift by Garnier. It has Omega 3 in it which is fish oil. It is wonderful for the face. I can not live with out it. Try it if your over 40.

Covergirl Trushine Lipstick in Cranberry Shine.

I’ve been using Natural Instincts hair color for 2 years now and have yet to be disappointed. I strayed to another brand once and the color was not at all what I thought I was getting. This stuff is gentle and “settles” after a couple washings to look very natural. Also it’s semi permanent so if you goof it’s not as hard for a stylist to fix.

Bonnie on

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara. It’s the only drugstore mascara that gives lots of volume and absolutely no clumping. I use Dior mascara usually but I still always carry the Voluminous with me in my purse.

Rhonda on

Nutrogena Body Oil, The Sensual Moisturizer, everyone always comments on how good I smell and my skin is unbelievably soft.

Covergirl LashExact, for someone with short and out of control eyelashes, this is the best mascara I have ever tried by far. I don’t even have to use an eyelash curler anymore!!

#1: Blistex Lip Medex (a necessity during a Canadian winter & all year long)
#2: Cetaphil (comparable to Clinique’s 3-step cleansing soap but better)
#3: Jameson’s Vitamin E Face Cream (very rich & leaves skin super soft & refreshed)
#4: Cover Girl Volume Exact Mascara (great for short lashes with it’s smaller brush)
#5: Keri Body/Bath Oil (use in bath or directly on skin after bathing; nice, light scent)
#6: Neutrogena Foot Lotion & Fast Absorbing Hand Cream (honestly fast absorbing, non-greasy & exteremly moisturizing)
#7: Life Brand (Shopper’s Drug Canada Brand) Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Oatmeal (exactly like Aveeno but 1/3 of the price)
#8: All Marcelle make-up (love the tinted face moisturizer with SPF, the bronzer/blush & translucent face powder)
#9: Goody Ouchless Thin Hair Elastics (always have a few with me at all times)
#10: Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails tinted (lasts forever & doesn’t split my nails)

Daniela on

If I were to win the lottery, Shopper’s Drug Mart is the first place I’d clean out!

Defnitely Rimmel Nail polish’s (the brush makes for a perfect application!)”Violet Plum” lipstick by NYC…it matches every skin tone! And of course, Benzagel spot treatment. You put a dab of that on one of those pesky zits, and it’s gone the next day. No joke!

hannah on

ummm……… burts bees lip gloss

Marci on

Has to be Cover Girl’s Lash Exact, it is the best brush I have ever used!

Giselle on

LA Style hair gel, it does not give you that flaky look and it does the job!!!

I love Neutragena’s eye make up remover, it works wonders… I also love LA Style hair gel, it is not flaky and it gives me hold and when I want to wear my hair wild & curly it does the job!!!

I used to splurge on Kerastase hair products. Now I alternate between John Frieda’s Brilliant Brunette line and his Frizz Ease line. Now I get compliments all the time and spend a third as much!! I especially love Shine Shock glosser.

Cutie McCuterson on

I LOVE Full n´ Soft mascara from Maybelline New York =)

Tim R. on

Balla Powder for Men. It’s made to keep your boys dry. Balla Powder doesn’t have the medicated smell of a prison delousing and it won’t make your package smell like a baby’s butt. Check it out, guys (unless you’re into the whole prison delousing thing – not that there’s anything wrong with that …)

Maddie on

I love maybelline’s Great Lash mascara.. just used it and then read this.. totally funy

Chelsea on

I absolutly love maybelline pure makeup as well as covergirl cheekers bronzer. The only other drugstore beauty product I swear by is the anabelle smoothwear eyeliner. Also, the best lipgloss is maybelline shiny-licious.

Burt’s Bee’s Lipgloss shades. They are all natural and sooth your lips, while letting get a burst of color to any outfit.

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash. I am prone to really bad breakouts on my back, but ever since I started using this 2 years ago I have yet to get even one pimple!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

Revlon Mascara. It makes my eye color show more. =]

I know everyone is crazy for Cetaphil, but I prefer Purpose dual treatment moisturizer by Johnson & Johnson. My face hasn’t gone a day without it since I was 12. It makes my skin feel quenched without being greasy, plus it has SPF 15 so I know I’m protecting my face from the sun.

1 – CoverGirl eyeshadow in Champagne (using it for over 10 years now)
2 – CoverGirl Marathon Mascara
3 – St. Ives Apricot Scrub (using it for 14 years)
4 – A&D Ointment (makes a great bedtime eye moisturizer and daytime brow smoother, plus it’s great for dry cuticles and elbows)
5 – Johnson’s Clean & Clear face cleanser (the original orange color)

Angela on

OMG – I SWEAR by Loreal VOLUMINOUS carbon black mascara!!!! It is teh BEST!! I have tried everything even expensive dtuff like Dior, and this is the best HANDS DOWN!!!!!

Tina R. on

I’ve tried numerous mascaras, including many designer brands, but nothing has surpassed the glamorous, full lashes I get from using Loreal’s Voluminous mascara-it’s really a great bang for your buck!

I certainly can’t pick just one so here are a few of my favorites:

1. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Healing Shine Serum. It makes my hair shiny and silky and it smells amazing!!

2. Almay eyeliner. I LOVE Almay. It’s great for contact lenses wearers and those who have sensitive skin. The eyeliner is so nice and soft and applies easily.

3. Pantene Pro-V Blonde Expressions shampoo and conditioner. I LOVE how it smells!!

4. Neutrogena Oil-Free Tinted SPF 15 Moisturizer. Light and non-greasy, yet moisturizes wonderfully.

Queen Helens Clay Mud Mask, cant live without it, I use it everyday. I also love Ambi’s new line of moisterizers and complextion creams. LOVES ALL THREE OF THESE PRODUCTS!!!!

After several years of using very expensive and very messy mineral powders (i.e., Sheer Cover,
Bare Minerals, etc.) I found I had left it all in Santa Barbara and all I could find in the little town north of San Francisco was a Walmart. I went in and grabbed a compact (pressed) of Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Translucent face powder and a makeup brush. It is perfect and I have used it ever since. No mess on the countertops, the floor, etc. A bit of bronzer (also physicians formula) and I am good to go. Would never go back to the others.

erin on

i definitely love the maybellene define-a-lash mascara!!

Wet N Wild lipliner in #666. Perfect color for anyone. L’oreal Sublime Glow daily moisturizer is wonderful. Gives a great sheen while gradually tanning…not too stinky.

Neutrogena MoistureShine lip gloss in Blush. Very pretty, natural pink color. Great for everyday wear.
