Mena Suvari Talks About Designs and Her ‘Do!

Rob Loud/Getty

Not only has Mena Suvari been busy filming the movie Garden of Eden — for which she shaved her head — but the actress has also been designing a scarf line. “I’ve always been into fashion and I wanted to design something to give to charity,” Mena told PEOPLE at the unveiling of her ECHO scarf line at Bloomingdales in Manhattan. Having worked with the National Resources Defense Council before, Mena knew she wanted to design something to do with nature to help the group. “When I was working in Vancouver the cherry trees bloomed, and I sent my photos and designs in from there,” says the actress of the inspiration behind her scarf line. And when PEOPLE caught up with the actress admiring someone else’s designs at the Y-3 show, The American Beauty actress told PEOPLE that chopping off her shoulder length locks “wasn’t scary.” In fact, the actress says she still feels just as sexy. “I’ve actually gotten a ton of compliments on it.” Check at Mena’s scarf lines at a Bloomingdales near you and see the buzz cut beauty on the big screen in 2008.

Chatting With Guerlain Spokesperson Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank offered Londoners a taste of her demure wardrobe yesterday, appearing at two events for perfumier Guerlain, looking equally chic at both. The actress made a seemingly effortless change from a Louis Vuitton 1940’s inspired belted suit (worn at a perfume signing at Selfridges that afternoon) into a fabulous Dolce and Gabbana corseted black dress later that evening when she co-hosted a dinner with Guerlain in London’s glitzy Mayfair. “I love this dress,” she told PEOPLE accepting compliments most graciously. “I just put it on, it didn’t need any alterations, it’s great,” she beamed, accessorizing with a Jimmy Choo clutch and heels. With guests such as Mick Jagger, Bryan Ferry, Kid Rock and Harry Connick Jr. turning up to fete the Oscar winning actress and face of the latest Guerlain fragrance ‘Insolence’ – the svelte actress described the scent in her own words: “To me it encapsulates a lot of different emotions. I think it’s fresh, it’s young but I think it’s classy and can feel older.” A spritz or two later, and we agreed– it’s a classic, much like the hostess herself. Sneak Peek: Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s Tour Costumes

courtesy Roberto Cavalli

When Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony needed costumes for their upcoming tour, they called in a favor from one of J.Lo’s favorite designers, Roberto Cavalli. A few weeks back, J.Lo helped Cavalli open his Just Cavalli boutique in NYC, where she kept close to the designer all night — perhaps talking last minute costume details? Cavalli admits to being inspired by music, so its no wonder he has also been responsible for Christina Aguilera’s and Michael Jackson’s on stage looks. Cavalli has created five looks for Jennifer and a variety of tailored suits and separates for Marc. For Jennifer’s, you can expect a 1970’s vibe, followed by some urban cool and menswear-inspired looks that complement the singer’s personal style. As one of her fans, Cavalli notes, “I am honored to be working with Jennifer. I appreciate her sense of glamourous, sophisticated style and have worked with her to bring as much of her personal style into her tour costumes.” We can’t wait to the husband-wife duo on stage — their tour kicks off tonight in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
