Would You Dye Your Hair Like Joss Stone?

08/17/2007 at 11:00 AM ET

Jorge Rios/Iphoto

Lots of women, including us, attempted at-home dye jobs with the aid of Cherry Kool-Aid or Manic Panic in a rebellious moment. But for the most part, as we grew up, we settled for more sensible, occuring-in-nature hair colors. Joss Stone looks pretty cool with her fuchsia and blue highlights, but it’s not exactly like she’s working at a 9-to-5 desk job. We want to know: Would you try brightly-colored highlights? Do you like the look on Joss?

The girl can sure sing, but she looks like a fool.

Elda on

i like it, her hair looks funky and cute!

Wendy on

Joss is a very talented & excellent artist, but her hair is much nicer blonde. But, hair doesn’t exemplify beauty!!! Just have fun, Josh!

Elizabeth F. on

She’s got an amazing voice, and her hair is just a way of expressing her crazy style, but I could NEVER pull that off.

JLO on

I love it when people have enough guts to step outside the boundaries of what is considered “normal” or “beautiful” and try something new. It’s only hair right? These things can be changed at any time, so why not experiment? Joss looks great, her style is funky, and I love it.

Ursy on

I think she looks hot, but it’s one of those looks that only she could pull off. Not for a everyday 9-5 working chic that’s for sure.

♥ Summer on

It’s totally cool. I probably could do that, but it would probably screw up my natural hair color. On Joss it looks cool, but isn’t she like a naturalist/hippie-type person??

Sara on

The girl may have soul, but she looks like a modern day court jester. Prince Charles called and he’s wondering why his joker left the palace.

Morgan on

i agree, joss is an amazing singer, and her hair is expressing her personality, but that type of dye job is COMPLETELY ruining her hair. it looks dead! imagine how many products are used on her hair! it must be brittle…

andrea on

I think that she looks amazing….very natural and classy….she can sing and pull off the multi color hair…way-to-go Joss!!!

Jamie on

She looks like a flippin idiot!

Jenna on

I could probally pull it off. But i wont.

dawn on

For Halloween i would

hannah on

I love to add color like that to hair but not so much towards the front as Joss did here. If she perhaps didn’t die her bangs it would have looked much better and still decent

alia on

I wish I had the cajones to do this!! I say if you want to, go for it!….It looks good on joss…

Absolutely, if I were that gutsy! I love the color on Joss Stone – it’s more tinted than completely dyed. Besides, she a singer, and fun-colored hair works in that industry – an office, not so much. You’re only this age once, why not? I’d also love Joss Stone’s wardrobe, the hair would definitely go with it!

Jamie on

That would never, ever work for me! But, it looks OK on Joss.

marie odabas on

i actually would, i need a change

Joss Can Sing But i think she Looks better as a Blond!

i like the bright colours it’s funky and cool, and can be stylish if it’s done right can look really good, bright hair colours aren’t just for goths and punks it suits her and makes her look more mature and fashionable.

When I was a teenager I used to wear purple streaks in my hair, of course I don’t do that anymore, even though I’m not that much older when I did do it, but I grew out of that stage. I could probably do what Joss has done to her hair, but I won’t, because of the everyday job I have. The colors look really nice on Joss. I think since seeing her for awhile, I’ve gotten used to how funky she is and how she likes to mix up her style, which is great. Besides, the color of hair doesn’t account for the amazing voice she has. As long as the girl can sing, who cares what she looks like, but yes, Joss looks great, I like her hair, but I like her as a blonde better, but she can rock this look as well.

NO i think she looks like a rock star and i dont like it

I’m having the fuscia and pink on thursday morning! It’s gorgeous.

Chloe on

I’m really not a big fan of the hair. I do really like her lip color though.

Jaclyn Mackenzie on

I have no idea if Joss’ look would suit me, but I totally love how it looks on her. It shows that she is not afraid to experiment with her style, and I think that this look totally worked out for her. I think that the colours really let her style shine through.

Lauren on

HECK NO!!!I would never dye my hair an unnatural hair color-esspecially like these colors!yuckkk!

KoOk!3 on

She look s HOT!!! i myself have carzy colors like dat…. To be honest is just hair so i dont see anything wrong wit just ahveing fun… U can just changeit later!!!!

I think it looks awesome on Joss. Of course very few of us would dare to do the same, but most of us DO have 9-5 jobs. When you’re in this industry, you have to do something to make your look stand out- something that you wouldn’t see us common folk doing- just because you can.

I LOVE IT!!!! This is exactly how I have been wanting my hair for the past year. It’s easy for a blonde haired girl to get whatever color highlights they want and can pull it off, why not us brunettes??? There’s not many options available for dark haired people. Let us Brunettes SPICE IT UP ;)!! Now that I have a pic to show my hairdresser what I want, maybe I won’t look like I am crazy.

Introducing...Joss on

Amazing hair, but I doubt most people would be able to pull it off!

Stevie A on

What is wrong with colored hair? Why does she have to be a ‘jester’ or a ‘fool’ just because she has colorful hair? Some people are so closed minded its sad. Open up a bit and stop judging others and you will be a happier person.

Jessica on

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want it so bad i wonder what colors they are?

Sarah FC on

I think her hair is really awsome.. i have had my hair blue and purple separatly, i have also had blue purple and pink at the sime time, red orange and yellow at the same time and currently have blue green and yellow. i love having my hair different, unnatural colors becuase it helps me stand out. Joss and I also did it the right way though becuase we didn;t do all of our hair. it looks good either way but some people i think it suits people better with just sections. :)

Sharon Rose on

Alright ~ Lord knows I’m not against dying hair ~ no matter the colour (I’m a dye-hard Manic Panic fan), but she’s just looks like a darn fool! Too many colours at once, and it just looks . . . messy.

I would love to dye my hair like her’s. Im lookin forward to it. I just need someone who can do it.

Lola on

I absolutely loved her hair when it had the fuschia but the blue makes her hair look dingy. Maybe it’s just fading. But It’s Joss Stone so…what she lacks, can be made up for, ten times over, with her voice. : )

Lisa J on

I love it! I am looking into trying it myself – it’s fun and harmless no matter what your career choice!

Betsy Ross on

She looks fantastic!

Funnily enough, in Europe, the women (of ALL ages) die their hair all sorts of interesting colors. They put splashes of this or that in or do all-over jobs of one or several unusual colors.

Americans are, in a word, prudes.
