Trend Worth Trying: Side-Slung Bags

All those heavy shoulder bags that we’ve been lugging around have definitely done some damage to our backs! The side-slung bag is not only more comfortable than lugging around a heavy tote, but you still have easy access to everything inside of it. And they are a lot more grown-up than the messenger bags of the past — even stars like Jessica Simpson, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz have been making the switch over. Why shouldn’t you? Ok, that bag is horrible. I’m sorry but I agree with many fashion designers who state that celebrities are wearing bags that are too oversized and sloppy! Why does Jessica Simpson or Ashley Olsen (for example) think that a purse is “hot” and looks attractive when it’s almost as big as they are! These girls are maybe 5’2″ tall and they weight about 100 lbs. – don’t oversize accessories when you are so tiny! Fashion is about good taste and balance – not about wearing the latest designer accessories that don’t fit your body type! You’d think that a stylist would inform them – but, maybe they will have to learn by mistake. In a few years they will see pictures of themselves in these sloppy outfits and accessories and just laugh!

Ok, why do celebs feel the urge to wear accessories that are too oversized – Jessica Simpson is 5’2″ tall and probably weighs about 100 lbs. – the bag looks ridiculous and very sloppy! Celebrities, get a grip, fashion isn’t about the latest trend but about wearing styles that fit well and balance out your proportions.

I love that bag!…It’s very cute…
…but I’ve had a side-slung bag for 2 years already—I carry my books in it (for college) and it works very well—much easier than carrying a huge bookbag on your back….

I think that this particular bag is decent. If you go to some of the other sites posted though, I think that some of your opinions against it may definately change.

charmed, you sound like a very angry (and immature) person. Maybe you shouldn’t take out your anger on someone just because they bashed your “idol”. Not everyone is a fan of Jessica Simpson.

Anyhow, big bags are pretty handy, they hold all the stuff I need when I’m commuting to work, including my laptop. I do have to agree that some celebs are carrying bags that are just way too big, though.
