This ring reminds me of the bigshot contemporary English artist Damien Hirst (real edgy artist), who earlier this year, came out with a life size skull (with the real teeth), made of platinum encrusted with diamonds all over it and I think it had a tag of $92,000. I can’t remember exactly…but, it made the New York Times front page???

That is the ugliest skull i have ever seen. I have seen better looking skull jewlery that I would actually wear. This ring is just ugly and freaky looking. its eyes remind me of frogs eyes they are huge and bulge out

Being a jewelry designer myself, I do like skulls. Memento mori jewelry featuring skulls and skeletons has been around at least since the 1500s, if not longer, so I don’t feel there’s a time limit on that look. To me, it’s actually a classic. Regarding some other criticisms, not all diamonds are “blood diamonds.” And someone might who might be able to spend $16K on this ring might also be giving $100K to aid the starving people of the world. Who knows enough to judge? Everyone has their own priorities and own ways of spending money, and if something makes you happy and you can afford it, by all means go for it. That said, my personal taste runs towards a mellower look…more emphasis on matte gold and less on diamond pave. I always love black diamonds though.

I own a white gold necklace with a skull on it, and it happens to be very pretty looking. The skull is very subtle and not disturbing looking, such as this skull ring is. For some reason, this skull ring is creepy looking, it reminds me of the skull puppet from “The Puppet Master” movie, LOL.

People are starving all over the globe, and
yet people are spending $16,000 on, in my

I think the skull trend is quite passee (not to mention frightening).
Also, I have never been fond of excessive displays of wealth, which is precisely what this ring is.
I do, however have a soft spot for black diamonds. These ones are lacking some brilliance, though.
