What's Hot For Fall? Pencil Skirts Like Angelina's & Beyonce's

This classic look is coming back with a vengence this fall, but in order for this sexy skirt to reach its full slimming potential, you have to wear it right. First, find the right length and make sure it’s tapered then pair it with the right top. To define your midsection, do like Angelina Jolie and add a thin tonal belt to a blousy top. This will also give shape to a thick middle without calling attention to it. Add curves to a slim frame by opting for a higher waistline and V-shaped detail with a tucked in top to create a more shapely silhouette. Take a cue from Beyonce and add a fuller jacket cinched at the waist to offset wide hips without minimizing curves. No matter which way you wear this look, heels are a must. New styles like oxfords and straps shorten the leg, but a dark tight can counteract the effect. Stick with a classic pump to keep it safe. I like the pencil skirt, I think it is very classy looking. I would wear one.

Angie looks much better in a pencil skirt than Beyonce. This trend is not suited for anyone with an hourglass figure (same goes for skinny jeans). I continue to believe that the best fashion choices are classic, flattering pieces, with trendy accessories.

nice

People mag any news about Jolie-Pitts family.

Both women look great

Angelina looks classy.
The skirt is not very flattering on Beyonce’s body.

JP on

Could Angelina be any more boring???

I love pencil skirts, and i also disagree with everyone so far. I think B pulls it off better than Angie. It accentuates her curves and shows off her small waist, Angie looks a little shapeless.

They both look gorgeous….but I don’t think I could pull it off….but I do think pencil skirts are very classy….I think they look good on curvy or thin women, like Beyonce or Angie…
….btw: I love both Angelina and Beyonce! They’re awesome:)

Umm..that skirt has been around for a while, and now just because THEY are wearing it, its “coming back”? Please. Get NEW styles.

Nat, your comment about Angelina is overly critical. You cannot really compare Angelina with Mother Theresa for a variety of reasons. Mother Theresa is a nun who completely devoted her life to helping the poor, and while Angelina donates her time and money to many charitable causes, she is first and foremost a movie star. Both people have vastly different occupations. It just so happens that being a movie star makes you financially well off, thus allowing you to afford certain things most people can’t (and nuns make no money at all). In addition, it requires that you maintain a certain public image, i.e., dressing a certain way. Do not condemn her for being a celebrity and for having the lifestyle she has.

Oh and good luck finding decent pencil skirt for less than $20 :)

Both of these ladies look great. I love the belt paired with the pencil skirt. The chunkier belts seems to go better than a thin belt, and I like Beyonce’s shirt too. Angelina looks flawless. I love how her hair is done up. Both of these ladies look fantastic and beautiful.

I really like the Banana Republic’s pencil skirt. I just may get it.

I don’t think the pencil skirt is the right choice of putting on because it’s just no

I agree with Becky I think B pulls it off great and Anjolina is even too skinny for a pencil skirt.

I really like both their outfits overall, they look adorable, but I think B looks better. Angelina has gotten waaay too skinny, her head looks too big for her body and like it might fall off at any minute. I love the pencil skirt though, I will definitely get a new one for this fall!

i think beyonce looks great in that pencil skirt, she has the curves to wear a skirt like that, as for angelina jolie she has always dressed very respectful but i just think she maybe a little too thin for this outfit.

Mary,
Angelina wants to be known and remembered as a humanitarian. As someone who grew up in a U.N. family with a humanitarian mother and grandfather and having spent many years in Africa I can tell you she is definitely not the real deal. Your claim about Angelina being first and foremost a movie star is clearly contradicted by the quotes below.
“I have no animosity toward Hollywood or the demands of the red carpet, all that silliness,” Jolie, 32, tells Esquire magazine in its upcoming July issue.

“That’s my job, and I’m happy to have it. But when I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No.”

“I recently had an op-ed (column) published in a newspaper,” she continues. “And at the end, it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN goodwill ambassador — that’s all. And I was really proud.”

Lifestyle is a choice and no one forces the hands of celebrities. In fact a celebrity who went against the grain would likely be more popular and have a more thriving career by standing out from the masses.
I do not agree with lavish lifestyles in a world with so much poverty, with so many under funded charities and so many causes in need. Nowhere does it say that if you make a large amount of money that you have to live in several giant mansions, there are certainly better things to put all that money towards; like children with cancer. I could never sleep in a giant mansion knowing what that wasted money could do for so many in need. I find it especially distasteful to see someone promote themselves as a humanitarian and then live a very shallow, materialistic life. If you cannot comprehend this then I can only feel sorry for you.
Many glamorous women do not spend a fortune on clothes; it’s the person that makes the clothes after all.

P.S. The article, if read properly, indicates where to buy a pencil skirt for under $20.00.

I like the two outfits, it is very classy and sophiticated

Big fan of pencil skirts. They make you look and feel sexy, but you’re covered up so they’re great for work. Beyonce looks great!

I have to agree with Layla, they had the “pencil skirts, back in style!”title last fall on a people magazine.COME ON!

i can`t help but notice what thick legs beyonce has and she always insists on wearing tight clothes.if she wasn`t famous everybody would call her fat,but now everyone thinks she`s sexy.i don`t like her.she doesn`t have a style of her own and she always copies fashion style, even if they don`t suit her :| bleah

Gaby on

I love wearing classic clothes, it goes with my profession, and i’m really glad for the come back of pencil skirt.
They bouth look ok.

JO on

These skirts have been around for years and years just at different lengths. These two look great in this type skirt. You really need a waist at least 8 inches smaller than your hips to pull it off. If you have an apple shape (I do) you can not wear a pencil skirt. Last time I was able to wear a pencil skirt was in my 20’s before I had my kids and put on 25 pounds. :-( sad.

blair on

beyonce pulls the look off SO much better then angelina. does no one remember marilyn monroe? these skirts we’re dominated by women with curves in the past. straight up and down women just can’t pull off the look like a curvy woman can. just look at eva mendes! i’m sorry angelina but it just makes you look frumpy.

WONDERFUL FOR TODAYS YOUNG WOMEN

Angelina does not have the body for a pencil skirt. Beyonce does and wears it very well. I think you look better when you have curves in the pencil skirt, it accents you figure and you lool more womanly. Kudos to Beyonce, sorry Angelina!

amw on

I love pencil skirts. They are classy and sophisticated, but also sexy. I think Beyonce wears the pencil skirt better because it accentuates her small waist and shows off her curves. I think pencil skirts look better on women with an hourglass figure.

ctg1989 on

Pencil skirts flatter any body…curvy or not. It’s a great addition to the fall wardrobe.

shopaholic on

Angelina is way too skinny for a pencil skirt. I mean have you seen the victoria’s secret models, they fill in their skirts not swim in it like Angelina. Besides, I don’t think Angelina knows how to dress down. She even goes to the park with her kids wearing a pencil skirt. Come on Ang, lighten up.

Rachel on

Honestly I liked the look better on Beyonce,

kayleon on

i like both ladies on thrir pencial cirte they both beautiful

CURVY BEauty on

I really love both actresses in the pencil skirts, I admire the fact that they both have a unique body shape that flatters the appearance of the skirts in different, classy ways.I really ADORE the fact that Beyonce is curvacious and “hourglass” shaped because there’s nothing like flaunting what you were born and blessed with!I just recently purchased a pencil skirt that is stretchy and will definitely hug my “hourglass” shape as it does with Beyonce’s pencil skirt…who gave anyone the right to say who looks best in a pencil skirt(toothpicks or hourglasses w/a little extra meat on their bones)MEN LOVE CURVES,NOT STRAIGHT FLAT ARROWS!Yes,pencil skirts are classic and give off a flair of sensible style, but one’s body shape shouldn’t project one for looking flawless and hot…rock on Beyonce, you and your HOURGLASS!
