Stunning style starts with knowing your shape — and playing it up! Just look at the difference between Jessica Alba in an Alexander McQueen sack dress and a curve-hugging Dolce & Gabbana dress. The brand new August issue of StyleWatch (on sale now!) dishes expert advice on shopping and dressing for your body, using your favorite celebs to show what works — and what definitely doesn’t. Here’s a few more tips and tricks from fashion pros to help you find your perfect look:

“The right seams can find the small parts of your body and accent them, whether it be a seam under the bust or in the hip. Seams can create curve and shape for your body.”
-Sam Saboura, author of Real Style: Style Secrets for Real Women with Real Bodies

“Be honest with yourself. Find something that works for you and don’t be afraid to buy ten of it in every color. Dressing well is less about following trends than finding what looks good on you.”
-Danica Lo, author of How Not to Look Fat

“For each of us there is a place just above or below the knee where our legs look their longest and leanest. Know your length and don’t be seduced by seasonal lengths that aren’t flattering for your silhouette.”
-Kendall Farr, author of The Pocket Stylist: Behind the Scenes Expertise from a Fashion Pro on Creating Your Own Look

“I tell women that a piece hanging on a hanger can look very different on your body. And every designer fits differently so you always have to try it on before you buy. If you buy a piece of clothing and it slightly doesn’t fit in some areas, don’t hesitate to take it to a tailor.”
-Alison Deyette, co-founder and Style Director of stylebakery.com

Jamie-Lynn Sigler wore the same Dolce and Gabbana on July 12′s Off the Rack. I don’t think it flatters anyone well.

She looks gorgeous in both pics, but the red dress is my fav….I just love Jessica Alba…she’s so down to Earth and sweet!:)

Personally I like the red dress better. You can still tell that she has a great body. I don’t think clothes need to be figure hugging at all times and the red dress is a much more interesting shape.

Is it just me or does the Dolce and Gabanna dress look extremely ill fitting!! I dont like either!! She has such a rockin body and she needs a shape that works with it not against it!!

Love that RED DRESS! Isnt’ that black dress the same dress (other than the purple color) that the little Soprano girl wore? This black dress still looks uncomfortable to me? But she does look cute in it. Love both pairs of shoes.

Jessica Alba is a very beautiduol girl, she has a great body, and is very sweet. She has absolutley nothing to hide from, especially body wise. She has no access fat, or something that’s not right with her body. So she should be proud!

I have to say, I totally agree with the last quote. It’s always important for one to try on an outfit before buying it. Even if it’s dress you have tried on before, if it’s handmade and by a high end designer, sizes will change. Even if it’s as suttle as a bracelet, always try it on before.

If I had her body I’d be workin’ it every minute I drew breath! That is genetic architecture at its best.

You have got to be joking, Sam. “Fat”? Any skinnier, and we’d all start to worry about whether Jessica has an eating disorder.

Poor girl. She could look so much better in something a little more elagant.
