No, tanning isn’t suddenly good for you, and yes, you must always wear sunscreen. But as InStyle.com points out, there is a way to build a bold base color that’s gradual, sunless and goof-proof: “Build a realistic golden shade over four days with a cream intended for light skin. Color that’s too dark looks patchy as it fades,” says tanning pro Anna Stankiewicz of the Rita Hazan Salon in N.Y.C. After a shower, blend formula into small sections (calves, shins, thighs) to avoid streaks. Repeat with a second layer, avoiding knees, ankles and elbows, adds Stenkiewicz, who’s tanned stars like Jessica Simpson. Try Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer, $8; cvs.com.

the only worry with this is that u start too look orange and it gets really expensive… it also looks really fake well i guess it is lol

I think Mary was talking about the comment in the article about Jessica Simpson, which I agree with. Seems that all of the self tan lotions give you that orange splotchy look.

why can’t people just be happy with the skin they’re in? fake tans ALWAYS look fake. and the real ones, well, if you want to look like an old leather handbag, go for it.

I use Jergens Natural Glow, because I hate to tan and we have had multiple cases of skin cancer in my family. This is the only self-tanning cream that I like. My hole family (mother, sister and grandma) uses it! It is the only one that isn’t orange.
