Little Black Dresses Rule the Hairspray Red Carpet

For a movie so filled with colorful characters, full-skirted dresses and over-the-top hair, you’d expect the red carpet at the Hairspray premiere to look like a rainbow, wouldn’t you? Chalk it up to N.Y.C.’s influence, but the Big Apple premiere saw the night’s leading ladies looking chic in sleek little black dresses. Amanda Bynes showed off her tan in a Pollini lurex minidress, while co-star Michelle Pfeiffer put the focus on her dazzling Cartier diamonds in an Armani strapless dress. And Katie Holmes, fresh off her trip to Germany, stole the show in a sexy sheath with a cut-out back. Tell us: Whose little black dress do you like best?

In Style Beauty Flash: A New Way to Tan!

Gregg DeGuire/WireImage(2)

No, tanning isn’t suddenly good for you, and yes, you must always wear sunscreen. But as InStyle.com points out, there is a way to build a bold base color that’s gradual, sunless and goof-proof: “Build a realistic golden shade over four days with a cream intended for light skin. Color that’s too dark looks patchy as it fades,” says tanning pro Anna Stankiewicz of the Rita Hazan Salon in N.Y.C. After a shower, blend formula into small sections (calves, shins, thighs) to avoid streaks. Repeat with a second layer, avoiding knees, ankles and elbows, adds Stenkiewicz, who’s tanned stars like Jessica Simpson. Try Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer, $8; cvs.com.

Victoria Beckham’s Fashion First

Frazer Harrison/Getty

When British designer Roland Mouret closed his doors two years ago, his legions of celeb fans like Naomi Watts and Keira Knightley were among those fashionistas eagerly waiting his return. And only weeks after showing his first new collection, called RM, the first star to wear his new line stepped out on to the playing field — literally. Victoria Beckham turned up at husband David Beckham’s Galaxy press conference last week in a shocking pink RM “Moon” dress and a matching Hermes Birkin (with David’s multi-million dollar deal, why not?). Love Victoria’s dress? Pre-order it in navy at net-a-porter.com for a cool $2150, along with every piece from the new RM collection.
