Will You Wear The Olsens New Clothing Line?

Even though Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s high-end fashion line, The Row, is now selling at Barney’s nationwide, the designing duo is not content. Good thing because neither are we! The Row’s $655 floor-length Modal cardigans and $875 banded strapless dresses are beautiful but too pricey. The solution is Elizabeth and James, the sister’s new clothing line named for their younger siblings. As Ashley told Women’s Wear Daily the contemporary sportswear line is for the “sophisticated woman with a playful side.” The more affordable line ranges from $40 t-shirts to $450 coats and will be in stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Intermix this fall. Expect washed leather jackets, supersoft shrunken T-shirts, pencil skirts, cashmere sweaters, chunky knit swing jackets, fur jackets, silk dresses and sequin minidresses all inspired by the sister’s closet. To see more check out this post at fabsugar.com. Tell us: Would you buy MK and Ashley’s Elizabeth and James line?

Nope- based on the way the twins usually look, I would not buy anything with their name on it. Besides, I would never support a line that includes fur! Ick.

Preface: I do not wear or own any fur items.

My question to all you people who are freaking out about them wearing fur: Do you guys all work for peta? And if not, please please tell me that you are all vegetarians, because if not, how hypocritical.

Like I said, I don’t wear fur, but I’m not knocking people who do. Chill out.

The Olsen’s shamelessly wear fur when even companies like Prada and Ralph Lauren have given it up. Love to designers like Stella McCartney that make fabulous clothing and shoes that don’t even use leather!

As for your question, yes I’m a vegetarian, but lets not judge. Anyone that makes a compassionate choice for animals is a friend of mine. Every positive thing you do in the world makes a difference even if you can’t do everything.

So my answer is no, I would not wear their clothing or support their company.

Steph,

It’s actually not hypocritical to eat meat but not support fur. While I believe it’s fine to kill an animal for food (although I don’t support how it’s done in our meat industry and would rather buy from small local farms if finances allowed), I don’t believe it’s fine to take an animal’s life to decorate yourself. That’s really the height of arrogance to me. Some may disagree with my stance on the subject (vegetarians will think eating animals is arrogant as well), I just wanted to point out that not supporting fur doesn’t make you a hypocrite if you eat meat.

By the way Steph, I know you think it’s excessive that there are so many people that don’t like fur and I don’t want to get too graphic but it’s hard not to. When someone supports an industry that uses vaginal and anal electrocution to kill an animal so it doesn’t hurt the fur, I have a hard time wanting to give them money. No I’m not exaggerating. So Steph, I don’t think it’s excessive to not buy someone’s clothing if they support that kind of cruelty. Sorry to get morbid everyone.

NO THANKS!!!

On the surface of this topic, I truly don’t care for the disheveled/stupid/unprofessional look myself and on a much deeper note, I can’t respect the practice of sporting fur (just for fashion) in todays society! YUCK!! And, where is Charla Dickenson for this debate!!!

I am not going to talk about the inhumane killings, wearing leather shoes, eating meat, wearing animal make-up products debate….but something much different….read on if you are interested….

Okay, just for a minute, let’s imagine (on the very extreme side) that half of the worlds population (3.2 billion) was demanding fur coats…well, guess what, for all the farm raised animals and remaining wild animals out there, their numbers don’t even come close to adding up to 1 billion! And, even still if their numbers added half way up, all the animals would be still be killed for the “demand of fur” just for a profit….!?!?! The animals would be dead and gone and the balance of life thrown off!! And, guess who would be left…..humans, with another big problem!! I am so sick at seeing how humans are so blind to the reality at how truly selfish we are, using natural resources, destroying lands, popluting the waters, killing animals/fish at such a disgusting rate.

Everyday, I try as best as I can to live simply and not demand too much from people or the planet, I currently don’t own a car, I get around on my bike and sometimes ride as a passenger in a car for weekend errands. My boyfriend and I eat very little meats…but, we give our respect to animals/fish. We try to conserve energies water/electricity, we have a garden, we try to respect everone, we exercise, we keep a clean home, we have cats, we try to maintain a healthy attitude towards life and the planet. For a long time I have felt that there are too many people in the world demanding far too much of the earth’s capabilities, I even don’t want to have kids (I don’t want to add the world’s population) because I am more worried about the fate of the planet’s future and if I am worried about that why would I want to any kid to deal with that, anyway, this is how I personally feel….if you don’t like and or disagree with how I feel, I understand and have no problem with that. I, in the least, will respect your view.

The planet (atmosphere and animals) needs balance, needs to be respected. And, it starts with respecting each other!

Earth is so special and we need to remember that, because the bottom line is we have nowhere else!!

Go Planet Earth, Go Natural, Go Solar, Go Wind, Go Peace, Go Respect, and Go Brain Power!!!

Cheers and Laters!
