I'm going to spend the weekend reading "The Ten Best Days of My Life" by Adena Halpern.
Her first book, Target Underwear and a Vera Wang Gown is one of my favorite books ever so I've been counting down the days until this one came out!

I'm going to be reading anything about France or by a French author (Proust, Flaubert, Hugo, etc.). I'm going to Paris this summer and I want to be well-versed in French literature. As for the beach, since I live on Lake Michigan, nothing quite as weighty or smart. I'm not into novels you can buy next to the magazine racks at stores, so probably a Stephen King novel or The Great Gatsby.

In the celebrity summer reading photo section, Sarah Jessica Parker is carrying THE HISTORY OF LOVE. It is an amazing book. For other good contemporary reads, check out anything by Dave Eggers or Jonathan Foer.

I just bought a house so all I'm reading right now is decorating books. But I can't wait to have time to sit down and read a good novel. I also love the Shopaholic books :-)

The top of my summer reading list is of course, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling. I'd love to read some classics like Jane Austen and F. Scott Fitzgerald. I also want to catch up on my chick-lit, including "Sex and the City" by Candace Bushnell, and her other books.

Ditto Shopaholic & baby - when I read the first Shopaholic, I was like, oh this is too lite, I am way too serious of a reader for this, this is silly - um, no, it went down like a salty watermelon slice, just fun. At breakfast I am reading an old Tom Clancy, Debt of Honor. By my bed I have Sense and Sensability, I'm in a Jane Austen phase, a new appreciator. The most pleasurable driving experience of late was a trip where I listened to the latest Adriana Trigani, read by the author - puuuuure pleasure, laughed, cried and wished I could say "My husband..." like she does. If you love southern humorous fiction, and I do, Can't Wait to Get to Heaven, Fannie Flagg - so quirky and heartfelt and orginal and hysterical. But I'm holding a Michael Connelly back to savor later in the summer. And if James Lee Burke publishes another this summer, THAT will be my highlight.
