Beauty Trick Worth Trying: Layering Scents

In our May StyleWatch magazine, one of the products we love is Sula’s Layering Sets of mix ‘n’ match fragrances, $30 for a set of two at ulta.com. These affordable perfumes come in scents like vanilla blossom and champagne sugar and can be combined to create a signature scent. I’m obsessed with having options, and now I can create a unique (and yummy) scent for every date, meeting, and errand. For an even lighter approach, try splashes like Marc Jacobs in Rain, Cucumber and Orange, $65, at sephora.com or Bath & Body Works Splashes, $11, at bathandbodyworks.com. I use Brown Sugar & Vanilla from Bath and Body Works Splashes – it works great, lasts long, and if it gets on your clothes, they just smell like vanilla! I’ve been using the same bottle for three months and it’s only half gone! $22 dollars a year for this stuff is a huge deal!

Ummm…. I guess that I have never really tried that!!

To add sweetness I use Pink Sugar as a base and layer other fragrances over it. To add airiness I use MAC the turquoise cap. And to tone down sweet/floral perfume I layer with Mont Blanc’s Starwalker. These 3 fragrances are not too complex and blend well with others.

But be careful: some scents are really strong and are great just by themselves. You don’t wanna over do it on the perfume, as it can get very overwhelming.
