kelp, you’re not being mean…it’s just the way this “model” is…wicked skinny…and in my humble opinion IS NOT SEXY or COOL!!
ALL women should be healthy, have strenght, and be curvy…the way NATURE intended women to be. I just wish these “fashion designers” would STOP fighting the nature of womens bodies and I wish they throw out their stupid (and wasted) sketch books full of stick drawings that are supposed to be…..people!! This “desire” to be thin, is a desire that is limiting, destructive, and unhealthy on many levels. This false “desire” to be skinny has made a disgusting impact on young girls from 5yrs old on up!!
Girls/women need to be taught (and reminded) that having a strong state of mind, following your heart, being healthy, being good and positive, and making your dreams comes true is far more worthy and respected than being f#*!-ing thin/skinny!!!
Don’t get me wrong, I like and have respect for fashion, I just wish someone would put the “fashion designers” in deep check when it comes to what they expect out of their models and how they treat their models. Perhaps issuing out fines to designers that support the ultra thin models (like a maxi pad ultra thin)…that work their shows and runways. The collected moneys could go to educating young women about maintaining a healthy and strong attitude towards life. Models are real human beings and fellow colleagues with ideas in the fashion industry and shouldn’t be treated like some soiled piece of expensive fabric!
Well, excuse my moment of rantin honesty!! No offense and no I don’t have anger issues either….

I agree with you 100% percent!
Women should embrace their curves. It is what makes women unique! I have nothing against naturally thin people,and for all we know this model could be naturally thin as well. However, as a young woman i wish that the fashion industry should use models who are…well, normal.
No matter their size, all women should embrace what they have been given. There is a reason we are all different after all! We could all look like Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton if we wanted to, but i am sure that many people, including me, can not, will not, and do not want to be another face in the crowd.
As a teenager growing up today, i find it especially hard to fully embrace all of my flaws and be proud of my strengths. With the media portraying girls to be like Barbie dolls or like Nicole Richie, they are portraying two extremes that most if not all women cannot live up to. So we try to obtain this unnattainable perfection, killing ourselves (if not figuratively than literally) in the process! It is just sad when i hear my friends or any girl for that matter call somebody (or themselves) fat, when really they are perfectly normal!! It really is insane.
Most of the time i am proud of my body, since i am curvy; I’m just lovin’ my curves!
But sometimes i am insecure (like all young women are) and i wish that i could tighten my stomach up and get toned. But then i realize that yes, i do exercise, and yes, i dance, and yes, i look perfectly fine…but at the same time feel i should lose weight…even though i don’t need to. It seems that with all of teenage girl issues and stess from school, work, family, etc. this insecurity that girls feel seems like an uneccesary burden!
School is especially hectic now (since i am supposed to be writing a research paper right now.. hehehehe) what with finals comin’ up and everything, and i can’t wait for summer!
But i would rather write about whats important (although the Romantic period in England, with Mary Shelley and Frankenstein is equally interesting :) I feel that this is an important issue that is not nearly as fully addressed as it ought to be.
Well anyway, just wanted to give a different spin on things, coming from a teen’s point of view on the issue!
By the way, i read these blogs all of the time and never comment on them (until now)… This picture just really hit home… And i usually read your comments because they are so thoughtful and it seems like you put so much thought into them. Its refreshing to read a comment that is not full of the high school gossip and cattiness that i hear everyday in school hehee.

This post is so great, it really helps you remember that people agree with you! Some people can be really nasty and show-off-ish though, but I just try to ignore that!
That model is actually pretty scary-looking! AAAH! She gives me the creeps. I guess it’s entirely her fault though since she was probably influenced by someone.
