How Naomi Watts Stays Fit While Pregnant

Look at how great Naomi Watts looks strolling through Manhattan yesterday. In this week’s PEOPLE magazine, we learned the secret to her tip-top mom-to-be shape is pilates. But is it okay to tone your core with a baby onboard? Yes, but carefully, says Daniel Loigerot of DL Fit Pilates in New York City, who works with Naomi Watts. The actress, 38, who is expecting a baby with boyfriend Liev Schreiber in July, has kept twice-weekly sessions-even continuing to use the intimidating Reformer apparatus. "I customized a program for her," says Loigerot, who accommodates Watts’s growing bump by having her work on her side, on all fours or propped up with pillows. Before starting your own routine, check with a doctor. Loigerot offers a few tips:

Avoid exercising on your back after the second trimester. "Baby weight can compress blood vessels in the abdomen." Instead, lie on your side, sit or stand.

Don’t overstretch. "When you’re pregnant, your muscles get looser, so joint stability decreases and you can pinch a nerve."

Breathe. Getting oxygen to muscles is key, he says. "You’re breathing for two now."

Eva Herzigova’s Glamorous Maternity Style at Cannes

With an array of long, sparkly gowns sweeping past me on the red carpet at the opening night of the 60th Cannes Film Festival, there was one that stood out for me (and it was’t just because of the baby bump I promise!). Eva Herzigova floated fairytale-like into the Valentino dinner hosted by Chopard in a beautiful (and tres feminine) pink candy colored gown, Valentino of course. The pregnant Czech born model who is due to give birth in just two weeks time confessed to me that “Valentino made this especially for me, nothing else will fit!,” laughing as she touched her round stomach. Accessorized with a Chopard necklace set in pink gold with pink sapphires, kunzites, diamonds and purple pearls (worth $30,4000, if you’re wondering) and radiant, nude make up, this was girlie glamour done to perfection — and not a flat shoe or elasticated waistband in sight. “I love the festival, it’s so glamorous,” she says. As she glides effortlessly past me her sparkly heels, I couldn’t agree more. — Monique Jessen

Lance Armstrong: Fashion and Bridal Guru?

Dating fashion designer Tory Burch is definitely rubbing off on Lance Armstrong. The first thing the seven-time Tour de France winner did when he encountered his friend Daniel Boulud on the red carpet at last week’s Modern Bride Trendsetter Awards in N.Y.C. was straighten the chef’s collar and tie. He shared that his pocket square was added by Tory, but, “She doesn’t like it when I wear T-shirts – especially my ratty T-shirts.” Armstrong, who is spending quite a bit of time in New York these days, has been on a social whirlwind that is very different from his Texas get-togethers. “Texas is very relaxed,” he said. “We don’t have events like this and certainly nothing like the [Costume Institute Gala at the] Met,” which he attended on Monday with Burch. “It was quite the scene,” he said of the Met. But the athlete was actually picking up tips at the Modern Bride event. “I’m having a wedding at my house in like 10 days [for his stepsister], so I’m a little nervous, but we had a party for 500 last week, which was a good trial run.”
