Stars and Model Mishaps at Dior Runway show

05/16/2007 at 03:00 PM ET

Stars like Charlize Theron, Dita Von Teese and Penelope Cruz took in the Dior fashion show in New York City on Monday night with some pretty atypical runway results. Putting Carmen Electra’s runway slip to shame, models spilled left and right due to the impossibly tricky platform shoes they were given to wear. Even veteran model (and Kid Rock paramour) May Anderson couldn’t walk in the impossible shoes, which had a spiked heel and ball in the front, required for the show. When Anderson went down, a source said, “Her ankle turned twice — I thought she had broken her leg.” Andersen had to be held up by two other girls to walk the finale, while another girl fell twice and John Galliano almost fell as he came out for his bow. There were whispers after the show that members of the audience were nearly in tears it was so upsetting to watch. This is going to make us feel a lot better the next time we can’t walk in our high heels!

I’m a big fan of DIOR by Galliano, and i must say… yes this was pretty dissappointing to hear about. But hey, it just makes me like Galliano more for his chaotic efforts in the fashion business. (I do have sympathy for those poor models though)

wow that has got to be embarrasing.. but its not as easy as it looks… modeling is difficult and it puts a lot of pressure- and those shoes- damn talk about difficult to walk.. poor things lol lol but oh well at least they got paid right!

Now, i will agree that this model needs to eat. I don’t see anything attractive about this look? I think the only ones who like it are the designers. I have yet to meet a guy that finds the skeleton looks attractive!
It’s really sad! And i thought i was skinny!

That’s just plain stupid. Have there ever heard of preperation, making sure that the runway and the shoes work before the actual show. Fashion shows are meant to go above and beyond crazy style, but not at the risk of someone getting hurt and making complete fools of themselves.

oh my goodness. this model’s legs, arms, and chest make her look SO OLD, when i’m sure she is young. at least she appears to have some muscle, and maybe it just looks odd because of the harsh lights and odd falling position. i’m sorry. i don’t like to criticize women’s bodies, because there is enough negativity about women’s shapes out there already, but this just looks gross to me. i can’t even concentrate on what this picture is supposed to be showing (a girl falling in high heels) because i can’t stop looking at how unhealthy she looks. i would rather look at a picture of britney, and that says a lot.

I don’t know why designers insist on making models wear ridiculous looking shoes that put them in danger. And why would you even want to have a runway show that is going to be a disaster because nobody can walk in those shoes?

How stupid! Putting models at risk (and breaking a leg would mean money lost) and making the show uncomfortable, at that. Who could focus on the clothes?

Autumn on

Not that I could fit my butt into any of what this model is wearing but it certainly does not make me want to rush out to buy any of it. Someone get that model a burger! STAT!

j on

how ridiculous. kinda defeats the purpose of the show, i don’t think anyone was paying attention to the clothes??
