Isaac Mizrahi's Bridal Line for Target

05/05/2007 at 11:00 AM ET

The past few years have yielded affordable bridal collections from some of our favorite stores — Ann Taylor, J. Crew, even H&M — and now Isaac Mizrahi is bringing his signature style to a bridal collection for Target! Available only online at target.com, the line will include bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and accessories for men and women, all for under $160! And of course, the line is chic enough to be worn to a cocktail party, black tie affair or even prom. Mizrahi says of the decision to make a bridal collection, “My bridal gowns are all reinventions of the classics, providing an affordable alternative for women everywhere. I put a lot of design energy into designing this collection for Target because every bride deserves to find the gown of her dreams, regardless of her budget.” We couldn’t agree more – who doesn’t love cheap chic?

Wouldn’t these dresses serve as wonderful (and affordable!) starting pieces to build on top of – Imagine all possibilities!

With some beading, embellishing, lace, or whatever else you can dream up, anyone who is willing and able to put the time into creating their own wedding dress could have a stunning creation all their own!!!

Who better to trust than Isaac Mizrahi and Yourself :)

Casey on

its to plain for me.

Those are really boring dresses.

andrea on

those dresses look really elegant, i think this line is a great idea for women who have expensive taste but no money. im just not sure that people are going to like going to their neighborhood target for something as special as a wedding dress.

dawn on

I find that David Bridal offers beautiful wedding dresses that are affordable and have alterations right there does target.com offer that probably not.

I THINK THE DRESSES ARE GREAT.
SOMETIMES WHEN A DRESS HAS FEWER RUFFLES AND WHAT NOT, IT LOOKS MORE ELEGANT AND EXPENSIVE.
I LOVE TARGET FOR EVERYTHING!!! AND NOT ALL OF US HAVE A HUGE BUDGET FOR A WEDDING SO EVEN IS YOU DO BUY YOUR WEDDING DRESS FROM TARGET, WHO WILL KNOW?
SOME PEOPLE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON LAVISH WEDDING AND END UP GETTING DIVORCE IN LESS THAN A YEAR. IT’S ALL ABOUT HOW YOU PUT THINGS TOGETHER EVEN IF THEIR NOT FROM A FANCY STORE.
I SPENT ONLY $3,000.00 ON MY WEDDING AND IT CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL AND I WAS SO HAPPY WITH EVRYTHING. EVERYBODY THAT I INVITED THOUGHT I SPENT $15,000.00.
I HAVE BEEN HAPPILY MARRIED FOR 10 YEARS AND I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING IF I COULD DO IT AGAIN.

I love what they did and I think it’s great. This really enables bride who otherwise can’t afford expensive dresses, to still get an affordable dress that is chic and elegant. Some may say it’s boring but I think their perfect. In a wedding, it’s not the dress that should stand out, but the bride.

In the post it mentions that the dresses are only available to order Online… I think that I would much rather try on my wedding dress, before I buy it! Yet, at that price, you can pay to have top notch alterations if need be..!

These dresses are hidious. A woman wants her wedding to be special, i wouldnt wanna look back and remember wearing a dress like this!

Autumn on

I think the dresses are beautiful. And they are great for women who have a small budget or are getting married for the second time, or women like myself, who just don’t see the point in spending an absurd amount of money on a dress that will only be worn once!

Oh my gosh…I went to the Target web-site and entered Bridal dresses and some very beautiful dresses came up. I was very, very impressed. I think some of the BIG designers are getting away from all the beads & poof a little this year. The dresses look very smart & stylish. I would purchase one.

No offense to anyone but I’d never buy my wedding dress at Target! You need a beautiful luxurious dress for your special day. For some people it only comes once! Those dresses are really blah and boring! They are to plain and look like they might fall apart any minute. They look like there made with ok fabrics but I seriously doubt it!

Both dresses look very simple and elegant. I agree, I don’t believe many people would want to shop at Target for a wedding dress. However, both dresses look very classic at such a good price! The one on the left is my favorite, but would look better if accessorized with a great necklace and earrings. Affordable wedding dresses are great if others are above your budget.

I can’t believe this!!! I love target, I’m getting married in a month and I bought this dress and snagged it up a bit!!! I love Target!!!!!!!!!!

I think those are lovely! I just would wonder about sizing, since they are only available online so you could not try them on first. Bridal sizing is so different than normal clothing, that would be a challenge. As a girl who really likes more simple, basic gowns, the styles sound like they’d be really great!

katy on

I love the first dress, if you put some beading and lace on it, you could end up with a beautiful dress for a low price. Sounds good to me!

GLO on

I don’t like it at all! But hey, what do you expect! It is TARGET people!

I’m going to be getting married at the end of the month and went to David’s Bridal and everyone at the store was rude. Actually I went to 3 stores in different cities and they all seemed like I was wasting their time and an inconvience; I’ve also heard similar comments from other brides. Also, their overpriced dresses seems to be made out of camping material. I think the Target dresses look simple and smart. Plus, you can always take the dress to be altered to a number of places; you just have to look in the phonebook. I would have considered a dress from them, but they just came out too late.

I have to defend David’s Bridal based on the last comment posted. I have had a wonderful experience with David’s Bridal and their prices are completely reasonable! I find the dresses at Target, at least the ones pictured, to be very boring and plain. I don’t think I would ever buy something so important as a wedding dress at Target. I buy GROCERIES at Target!

Jenn M on

Wish they had this when I was wedding dres shopping! I had sticker shock at the prices of wedding gowns, and my experience with David’s Bridal was horrendous! I would have definetly purchased one of these dresses and had a seamstress do what I wanted for a fraction of the cost. Pretty, elegant and simple= perfect!

Jessi D on

I think they are lovely and could be altered and still be cheaper than the majority of dresses.

I have had problems with rudeness at David’s Bridal like several other posters.

i went to the website and i think the dresses are beautiful!…i personally wouldnt buy my wedding dress from target…but i think these dresses are great for women who are on a tighter budget…or who just do not want to spend alot on a wedding dress…

I just got engaged last week and when I heard about this line I had to check it out, and for me the simple style and price are perfect. I too went to David’s Bridal and I left crying. The lady actually told me I was fat (I’m a size 8) and needed to loose about 30 pounds. At the prices at target I can get the dress and get it altered for about a third of what I would pay for a similar dress at David’s. Also, I feel bad making my maids pay $200 for a dress they will probably never wear again, so I am too considering getting there dresses from Target and I think they will be greatful for the price break.

lucy on

AWHHH Jaci i feel so bad for you. I know how you feel. My mother in law told me the exact same thing when i was shopping for my dress. I wish this was around when i got my dress. It is a very good idea

dawn on

I never had problems with david bridals and i have used them three times.

Shangella on

I would ad a ribbon under the chest of the dress on the left and make a big Bow that falls to the floor in the back.

I think it great for people with smaller budgets. theese are just two dresses. they probably have other styles to please everyone.

II ended up @ a high end wedding shop & was totally disappointed when 2 months from the wedding date, I went to a last minute fitting, & the wedding dress was too big and too short!!!! Brides-maid dresses were backordered….I just fell apart & lost it when I got home. My husband said something to me I’ll never forget, “we have forked out BIG $ for this wedding & have lost site of it’s true meaning & what it’s all about…let’s elope to the beach & have a party when we get home”. I too, like some of your girls thought for about 5 seconds how I would miss out on the beautiful gown & fairytale we all dream of as a little girl. But then I realized he was right. We got married barefoot in the sand 10 year ago (we’re still happily married). I wore a white short Cindy Crawford looking dress I got of the rack. I look back & I’m glad now that I listened. It’s just natural for girls to want this fairytale. Some of you may stone me to death for saying this, but 10yrs later I look back & see that the dress was not important at all (but I thought it was). I don’t care for the 2 dresses shown, but I did go to the TARGET web site and saw several beautiful designs that look fashionable & affordable. I’m pretty picky, not on a budget & I would wear them.

Simple but smart wedding dresses, suitable for summer wedding.
The first dress is lovely, maybe can add a few beading works on waist so look more elegant. Matte satin. why the fabric of hem look different.
The second dress suitable to be wear by bridesmaid , I think it can be made stronger and better on bodice.

kp on

i think this is a great idea. they are plain, but classic at the same time. it’s wonderful that he is doing this… some people can’t afford $3000 just for a dress. it may be for your ‘big’ day, but $3000 is a house note!! if it fit me, and i feel gorgeous in it- i’d buy it! no one would know the difference.

I love, love, love, love these!!!!

Isaac is my favourite dasigner anyway :)

I just purchased one from Target the other day – can’t wait til it comes in! Make sure to check their website because there are around 12 different styles. The ones above just happen to be the most simple styles of all.

Wonder Woman on

I ordered dresses & have already received. The ivory color is YELLOW. If you order make sure you order IGLOO/White. The strapless dress had serious QC problems, the dress was too short, the breast darts/seams were uneven!!! Strange that Target website wil not post my comments, I have been loyal customer. Also ordered the trumpeto dress (pictured above) it was great fit, you can dress up with nice veil & jewlery.

Julia on

I WOULD NOT BUY A DRESS FROM TARGET!

ALY on

I wouldn’t buy my wedding dress at Target

Katie on

Are you kidding me? So many people think they can get a $100 dress and turn it into a $3000 dress by going to a seamstress and having her add something to it for half the cost. HAHA. It never happens that way, a dress is $3000 because that’s how much it costs to make including all the labor among all the people involved, the fabrics, and details. If your not a designer you will never understand.

Franchesca on

Very elegant. At your wedding you want to have a wedding cake, not look like a wedding cake. Add a veil, beautiful.
