faith, i know what you mean by the 200$order to get your discount. with mark/avon you can order as little as 20$ and you get a fixed discount of 10% if you order more than 100$ you get 20% and more than 200$ you get 30% and so on…my sis did mary kay and she also got stuck buying products worth 150$ she didnt end up selling….so with mark/avon you don’t buy anything but your membership 15$ and you order as much as you have. hope that helps.

leigh, not to be argumentative, but i was sold the whole god first thing too, and while there are a lot of christian women in mary kay, it is very clear that you are there to recruit and sell. and i agree that they have some good products, especially their skincare, but saying that mary kay is the ONLY job where you can put “god first, family second, career third” is not only untrue, but one of their most used recruiting LINES. technically working at a church would probably fulfill that better, but actually ANYONE can have those priorities in that order in their life if they choose to. either way, i’m glad you like it, and i wish you luck with your business.

Lauren is absolutely beautiful. I loved her on the “Hills” which is my guilty little pleasure reality TV show.

As for mark. products, I’m definitly gonna check it out. The prices seem amazing, and I’m a huge make-up lover..the more, the merrier.

Thanks to Miss Amy too for sharing. I didn’t know anything about mark. products, and I’m a loyal customer to AVON, I buy there all the time. So thanks for sharing your tidbits on how good the mark.’s product is.

I am actually a Mary Kay consultant and we have WONDERFUL products. Women’s skin have been transformed by the products, including mine. We do get a bad rap because we have some pushy women involved, but overall MK is a wonderful company. It is the only place where you can put God first, family second, career third. It is a wonderful option to help you earn some extra bucks for your family, or can become a career, whatever you choose. If you had a pushy Representative, then I’m sorry for that, but the products are the best I’ve ever tried!

rara, i went to the website, and ofcourse it seems enticing to sign up and save 40%, but i just don’t want to get trapped into anything. yes, i was burned by an experience with mary kay. and there were people who signed up just to use products there too (the hard core consultants called them pucs–pronounced PUKES– which stands for personal use consultants), but you had to buy $200 worth every quarter to keep your discount. is it the same way with avon? i’m not here to trash mary kay, because there are a lot of nice ladies in the company, but it was just very hard to succeed at, and there were a lot of little RULES that you didn’t learn about until you were already suckered in.

Mark. sounds like a good product. I’m going to try to learn more about it.

I usually wear covergirl eyeshadows, blush (iced cappuccino), and concealor/foundation. I haven’t found any mascara that beats L’oreal’s Original Voluminous mascara in blackest black, and I really like Clinique’s ‘color surge impossibly glossy in 101 beach bunny’ and their ‘glosswear for lips in classic pink’, but you can’t go wrong with Bonne-Bell or Smackers lip gloss. They are definitely affordable, come in varying shades, and last for at least an hour or two.
I don’t usually wear tons of make-up, just a little concealor, lip gloss, blush, and mascara. But when I am going out it is fun to put on eyeliner and mess with eyeshadow.. I never wear just one color. I like to mix (CoverGirl) tapestry taupe, rosy outlook, and lavender twist!
.. I am doing my (future) sister-in-laws make-up for her June 16 wedding and we will definitely see if Mark. is a product we should use (that is also her fiance’s name!!!)

This comment is for Faith. I actually sell mark and make good money out of it. you just call them and the representative meets with you to give you the products and teaches you about them. I think you have to pay something like 15$ though. but you’ll make it up afterwards. And its no where like Mary kay. so much better and you get discounts too!

Hey Faith-
Mark is a line of products for Avon. I don’t know much about selling Avon, but I don’t think they require you to have parties. My friend said she paid $10 to sign up as a sales rep, but she doesn’t really sell it, she just signed up for the discount. I believe if you go online you can buy products through the website. Like I said, I’ve been really impressed with all of the products I’ve tried and the prices are awesome!
