When we heard our favorite fashion guru, Tim Gunn, had written his first book, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on a copy. Hitting stands today, May 1st, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style is told in the same witty and reassuring voice Tim has become so noted for on Project Runway. With his partner-in-style Kate Maloney, Assistant Chair of Fashion Design at Parsons, they discuss every aspect of creating and maintaining an individual look. Some of our favorite topics include: how to navigate all types of shops, diagnosing the common closet, finding a style mentor and dressing for everyday occasions. One of the best parts of the book is when Tim denounces the “it” bag calling today’s accessories “too big, too shiny.” Then he goes on to say, “Why not carry a plastic bag from the supermarket and simply tape your credit card statement to it? Thank goodness for Bjork! Those of us who write about celebrity fashion often lament over how alike everyone dresses — no one takes risks anymore. No one, that is, except for our favorite Icelandic singer. After a four-year hiatus, the queen of bizarre fashion is back! Bjork appeared at the Coachella Music Festival this weekend wearing some sort of magical mushroom headdress with an orange and green hula skirt underneath. About to launch a new world tour in support of her next album Volta, Bjork has said that the album is mostly about what being feminine means. Since Bjork wears her heart — and her art — on her sleeve, we can’t wait to see what those sleeves are gonna look like. Some people consider her a fashion darling, while others, a fashion disaster. With just minutes to go until the Kate Moss Topshop line launched in London’s Oxford Circus last night, frenzied fashionistas (yes, I was there and have the bruises to prove it!) crowded around a red velvet curtained window display, no one quite sure what to expect. Much screaming and pushing later the curtains were finally pulled back to reveal a sultry looking Ms. Moss draped over a mannequin in a full length red chiffon gown (limited edition, nearly $400 if you’re wondering). Two poses, 12 seconds later it was all over and the first wave of shoppers ran into the store. With an allocated shopping time of 20 minutes I quickly got down to business ie grabbing everything I could see in my size. If you’re after the must have’s – I can confirm the two biggest sellers last night were the Pansy dress (£45 or $90) and the Kate vest in black (£12 or $24) so get clicking! — Monique Jessen

Not only does little Suri Cruise have an amazing gene pool, she’s got great taste in cupcakes! For her 1st birthday, Suri had a party hosted by mom Katie and dad Tom on April 18th where the entire clan dined on cupcakes from Sprinkles bakery in Beverly Hills. Sarah Michelle Gellar has been laying relatively low recently, so we were thrilled to see her making the scene at the Tribeca Film Festival looking so stylish. Her week kicked off with a Chanel dinner, where she was the epitome of chic in her little black dress (by Chanel, of course) with jewels from the house’s fine jewelry collection. The next night, she hit the red carpet in support of her new film, Suburban Girl, in a colorblocked Chloe dress and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. as arm candy. Two nights later, she went for a simple and sexy Donna Karan sheath in trendy cobalt blue at the Festival’s premiere of The Air I Breathe. We hope this is only the beginning of seeing Sarah Michelle back on the red carpet — we can only watch our Buffy DVDs so many times!
