Who can actually say that they like their hair in the summer? As soon as the humidity rises, we find ourselves with a halo of hair hovering above our head. In our youth, a strategically placed bandanna would work to hide the offending mass of hair, but as working girls, that route doesn’t really fly. The quest for an alternative topical solution led us to a few frizz-fighters that actually work, including the classic Frizz-Ease and a cute headband, like Jessica Simpson’s. We want to know your solutions: How do you tame your frizzies in the summertime? What’s your summer hair secret?

Whenever I hear about a new beauty book, I automatically think back to hours of my childhood spent poring over pages, trying to determine whether I was a Spring or a Summer for my makeup colors. But when I saw Pretty: The Nylon Book of Beauty, I couldn’t put it down. From the edgy photos to the encyclopediac list of beauty icons from the ’20s through the ’90s (and how to recreate their signature looks) to the pages of must-have products, there was something that made me want to read through every page. Wish Jessica Alba a Happy Birthday — the lovely actress is turning 26 today! We have a few ideas on what to get the girl who is as believable kicking butt in Fantastic Four or dazzling on the red carpet — if we had the money and were actually friends with her! Anyone who wants to steal our ideas (Cash, we’re looking at you) should feel free.

1)Jessica’s the new face of Revlon, so she can stock up and define her eyes with Revlon’s High Dimension Lash-Highlighting mascara and gloss her lips with Revlon limited edition Midnight Swirl Lip Luster .

2)Since she already loves Gustto and Botkier, we think Gustto’s patent leather trim satchel would be great as an everyday carry-all, and Botkier’s red Devon bag would be great for when she needs a splash of color.

3)We all know that Jessica has a body to kill for — especially in the teeny bikinis she wears on the beach. As summer approaches, why not give her Billabong’s All-Time white bikini would look so good against her bronze skin and since she’s a fan of Vitamin A, their Sunset Sparkle Stripe set is perfect for showing off her toned abs.

4)But she wouldn’t have that enviable body without logging some serious time at the gym. Why not work out in style with Norma Kamali’s terry hooded knickers or Mike & Chris’ Nico hoodie ?

He already had the haircut to match his stylish wife Victoria, and now David Beckham has the color to match too! The natural blond unveiled a shocking platinum ‘do this week — reportedly dyed for a photoshoot. But, considering his well-documented affinity for changing up his hairstyle, maybe he’ll keep it around for a while. “It is a personal thing,” a Beckham pal tells PEOPLE. “It’s not the first time David has changed styles and not the last.” And why not keep it considering his move to L.A. is looming in the near future — maybe Posh gave him a few tips on trying to blend in. –CAMERON DIAZ, stopping by the Marc Jacobs store in New York City. And the actress had a successful visit — she left with a bounty of goods!

– ASHLEE SIMPSON, leaving Ken Paves salon in Beverly Hills post-haircut with a heaping bag of UNITE products. The singer picked up a ton of shampoos and conditioners including the GO-365 Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as S-FREE Shampoo and the ADLIB Shaper to add texture to her hair. Plus, the younger Simpson also snagged some STRONGA Treatment and SOFTA Treatment to repair her hair.

– Spider-Man 3 star KIRSTEN DUNST, leaving with a new summer dress after a trip to Isabel Marant in Paris’ St. Germain area. The actress has been in Europe to promote her new action flick which opens in the U.S. on May 4.

– GABRIELLE REESE, engaging in a major shopping spree at Billion Dollar Babes‘ exclusive Diane von Furstenburg sale at the W Hotel Westwood. In fact, the athlete left with over $1000 in dresses!

– ADAM BRODY, getting swarmed by female fans while shopping at the Chip and Pepper store in downtown New York. The staff had to help escort the In the Land of Women star out the store’s back door.

– JESSICA ALBA and her beau CASH WARREN, stopping by Los Angeles’ Milk Boutique. She was very quiet, an onlooker tells us as her beau picked up two Le Magnifique t-shirts. But Alba didn’t leave empty-handed. The actress snatched a Giulia Piersanti leopard belt, a Nation tank, sunglasses and a Le Magnifique tank.

–REESE WITHERSPOON, finding her “solemates” with some new footwear at Sigerson Morrison. The actress bought five pairs of shoes – including three pairs of trendy gladiator sandals.

Jennifer Lopez is having a major metallic moment — first she wore silver bell-bottoms, and now she’s got on super-sparkly silver eyeshadow!  At an event last night in Los Angeles, the white pantsuit-clad star showed off her twist on smoky eyes and pale lips.  We always think J. Lo looks great with dramatic eyes and nude gloss, but we’re still contemplating how we feel about the glitter effect. Tell us what you think: Would you wear J. Lo’s makeup? As our office fills up with racks of itsy-bitsy bikinis and photos of celebrities, like Lindsay Lohan, looking amazing on beach vacations flood our pages, my stress level keeps rising! Sure, if I looked like Lindsay in a bikini (all nine of them) I’d be more than happy to hit the stores. But in my current state of, uh, not quite summer-ready, the thought of trying on string bikinis in fluorescent lighting with unflattering mirrors makes me want to run and hide. For now, I am investigating more cute coverups like Cameron’s, until the gym becomes more of a daily reality. — Melissa Liebling-Goldberg
