Trendwatch: Bold Black & White Striped Dresses

Do not readjust your sets — these bold black and white lines are supposed to be there. With their off the shoulder or asymetrical neckline and graphic impact, these dramatic dreses are a mash-up of the ’80s glam revival and the 60′s mod trend of the past year. From Sienna Miller’s Calvin Klein to Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B to Thandie Newton’s Giles Deacon dress, the trend is making a big statement on some pretty big style icons. In all fairness, it’s not the the easiest trend to pull off (remember what your mother told you about horizontal stripes not being flattering?) but a sharp silhouette and minimal accessories is definitely the way to go. Gwen looks great! Course I would wear her dress – or Sienna’s dress, but not Thandi’s…don’t like the weird uno-puffy sleeve look.

I LOVE the look, but you would have to be a stick to make this work. Any little bit of curve would make you look like a clown at the circus…

I really think those bold dresses take away from the natural beauty of these three woman. And does anyone else think “Beetlejuice”?

I love the style of Sienna and Gwen’s dresses, I’d for sure wear them(in red&brown, or red&white). I don’t really like the style of the sleeve on Thandie’s dress(eekk).

Yes I would. I would wear Gwens. I love Sienna’s but it is hard go pull off horizontal stripes. I love them all & I would definately give it a try!

Gwen looks hot the others so not, I love her style of the dress and would where it in many colors but the other ladies look nappy in those dresses.
