The Scoop on Nicole Richie's New Do

04/18/2007 at 12:00 PM ET

While the debate was raging on about Nicole Richie’s new do — love it or hate it? — we got the inside scoop from her mane man, Andy LeCompte of Chris McMillan salon. Andy tells PEOPLE that “Nicole is always ready for changes. She likes experimenting with the shorter and longer hair. She was just a little bored.” And there’s a reason that Nicole keeps going back to her shoulder length locks, “We always joke about everyone’s loving the bob! The shorter hair is a bit more flirtatious and it’s definitely fresh on Nicole.” But don’t expect to see the Simple Life star with her hair down all the time now. Andy says that the new cut has left her hair long enough “that she can wear it in a ponytail and she can still throw it back.” And isn’t that the perfect spring haircut for anyone?

It appears to be similar to a previous hairstyle she’s sported, but I still love it! Maybe I will….

This really is not a new haircut, she had the same one about a year ago. Not sure what all the fuss is about considering she sported the same look not that long ago. Isn’t there any real fashion news or insights?

Her hair looks great, very shiny and healthy looking, and the cut is really cute! But yes, she did have something very similar last year, so I don’t see what the big deal is either. On another note she is looking a lot healthier lately!

She’s had this haircut before…what’s the big deal. It looks good though.

Nicole’s new do is very flattering on her! It looks like she’s gained some weight, too! It seems like she is changing for the better! It’s about time! This is the best she’s looked!

stunning hairstyle to me. the color and her long, sideswept bangs compliment her small face. she looks beautiful!!!!

What new hairdoo? She has done this at least twice before! It’s very nice, but it was nice the first few times arount too!

Maryse on

She’s sported this hair-do before.

She looks more beautiful than ever and so much more healthier looking. I love the cut, it really fits her petite frame and really brings out her facial features and bone structure of her face. The color is beautiful on her, and I love the side swept bangs.
