Spokesmodel Alert: Drew Barrymore is a CoverGirl!

Not only is she a successful actress and producer, but Drew Barrymore can now add CoverGirl to her lengthy resume! Drew will not just be the face of the new campaign, but she will also be co-creative director for the tv commercials, debuting in January 2008. Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager, CoverGirl Cosmetics in North America, says “we wanted to honor Drew’s passions as a filmmaker and are thrilled she is not only lending her beautiful face to CoverGirl but also lending her artistic talents as the co-creative director of the ad campaign.” But don’t worry — the actress isn’t exactly switching careers. “I leave the makeup and product up to them, that’s their expertise,” she told The Associated Press in a phone interview from the set. “What I want to do is honor the tradition of CoverGirl but hopefully bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it.” As for becoming a model, the actress joked, “What girl doesn’t fantasize about it?”

Is Halle Berry Really Going Bald?

She’s one of Hollywood’s great beauties, but for her next role, Halle Berry says she’s going to take it all off — her head. That’s right, the Oscar winner recently told PEOPLE that she’s going to shave off her gorgeous locks for an upcoming role (to play a woman who loses her hair and is forced to see much of how her identity was tied to her looks). “For [Nappily Ever After], I am going to shave my hair, so I’ll have short hair again very soon.” And beautiful female stars breaking out the clippers for their craft is nothing new: Demi Moore did it for G.I. Jane, Natalie Portman shaved for V for Vendetta and Sigourney Weaver went chrome-domed for Aliens 3. We say, if anyone can pull off a shaved head, it’s Halle. Tell us: What do you think of Halle shaving her head? Will it be a good look?

Read more of PEOPLE’s interview with Halle Berry in this week’s issue.

Can You Top This Dress on the Ugly-o-Meter?

Over at our Ugly Bridesmaid Dress blog, we’re seeing a lot of evidence that brides might actually hate their bridesmaids. Take this dress for example: We’re not quite sure if it’s made out of tin foil, a helium balloon or a Jiffy Pop bag, as one commenter noted. Even bridesmaid Kristi, who was forced into the dress for a wedding, had no idea what type of fabric she was wearing: “The tag actually says, ‘40% nylon, 60% metallica!’” Well, one thing is for sure — this dress is U-G-L-Y! But can you top this dress? If you have a tacky, wacky bridesmaid dress hanging in your closet, we want to see it! Submit a picture of your ugly bridesmaid gown and you could appear on PEOPLE.com!

Kristen Bell’s Beauty Obsessions

The Veronica Mars star caught up with PEOPLE’s StyleWatch and gave us the inside dish on how she gets her skin so glowing. Before any makeup, her skincare secret weapon is to give herself an at-home facial with Kate Somerville’s Kate in a Jar, $85, katesomerville.com. “My skin feels rejuvenated and has a healthy, clean glow,” says Kristen Bell. For her fair coloring, she uses Jane Iredale PurePressed Base in Amber, $48, janeiredaledirect.com or Stila Sun, $24, stillacosmetics.com to “warm up her complexion.” To give her cheeks a little extra flush, Kristen swears by Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy, $28, tartecosmetics.com. For basic lip color, the actress uses Vincent Longo Lip and Cheek Gel Stain in Liquid Kiss, $23, sephora.com, but to plump her lips she goes with LipFushion Lip Plump and LipFusion XL, $36 and $50, sephora.com and her lip balm of choice is Kiehl’s Baby Lip Balm, $8, (call 800-543-4571). And finally for her eyes, Kristen swears by Clinique Naturally Gloss Mascara in Jet Black, $13.50, clinque.com because “it never gets clumpy!”

Would You Wear Colored Denim?

Just when we thought we were safe from tough-to-wear denim trends (we love swapping out our skinny jeans for wide-leg), a new trend rears its risky head. Stars like Ashlee Simpson, Fergie and Rachel Bilson have all been sporting rainbrow bright denim in shades of electric blue, red and purple — and they aren’t the only ones. We think we’ll sit this one out, but we want to know what you think. Tell us: Will you wear colored jeans?
