Get the Look: The Hills Finale Party

When Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad hosted The Hills finale party last week on MTV, they shed their California street style for chic party dresses. Lauren started the night in the “Stella” grape leaves print Plenty Frock by Tracy Reese, $250, available at the Tracy Reese store (call 212-807-0505) — get her look for less in this daisy short dress, $20, forever21.com. Whitney opted for a black sequin Ashish mini she recently purchased at Henri Bendel, $898 (call 1-800-H-BENDEL to order) — get her look for less with this almost identical sequin mini, $86, at asos.com. Audrina kept it simple in an older black Michelle Mason jersey dress — get her look with this lightweight silk jersey dress, $119, at bebe.com. Even if it’s just to see what the girls wear, we certainly are excited for next season. Tell us: Are you a Hill’s fan?

Rose McGowan’s Discontinued Lipstick

It’s almost as bad as a breakup when you find out that your favorite shade of lipstick has been taken off the market. When Rose McGowan found out that her must-have shade of MAC lipstick, Pink Packed, was being discontinued, she was floored. “She always has it with her all the time,” says her makeup artist Jake Bailey, “it’s her favorite!” She even wore it to ShoWest in Las Vegas. Lucky for Rose, she’s got some connections, and MAC has made six tubes of Pink Packed just for her! But those of us with a bit less star power can also buy lifetime supplies of our favorite cosmetics. MAC actually has a Gone But Not Forgotten program that offers discontinued items to be sold to the customer directly — Nars, Chanel and Revlon have similiar programs. Try surfing the web for the many sites that specialize in sold-out cosmetics or turn to Three Custom Color, a N.Y.C. company that specializes in replicating lipsticks and foundations from even the smallest sample or from their existing archive of products. Maybe there really is hope in a jar!
