Would You Wear Black Lipstick?

While we’re sure to see some of the front row stars — including Elisha Cuthbert, Ali Larter and Ginnifer Goodwin– decked out in her gorgeous sequined dresses, we were more intrigued by the spooky makeup at the recent Imitation of Christ show in L.A. Always pushing the envelope, designer Tara Subkoff’s models rocked pouty black lips down a bone-strewn runway to convey what the designer described as a “goth princess ballerina look.” The inspiration came from fond memories of the black lipstick she wore as a rebellious teenager. If (like us) you’re not ready to take the plunge for a full-on black lip, Tara also played up the vampy vibe by using Smashbox Cosmetic’s sheer grape lipstick in “Enchanting.” The shade was a gift-bag freebie for her front row guests, and it’s available online at smashbox.com. Tell us: Would you ever wear black lipstick?

I have never worn black lipstick and I proably never will. I have olive skin and I think it would funny on me.

Black lipstick? Sure, on Halloween but I don’t think I could get away with it for everyday wear. I’d wear a deep, almost black wine color though, in fact I have several times, for a party or to go out to a club.

Hmm…Goth? Punk? Edgy? Who cares if it’s UGLY! Why would I want to look dead, washed out, scary? No thanks, I will stick to my sheer glosses and actually look like a lady.

Of course not, I’m not dead!!!

While I don’t mind daring new trends, I can’t say I find this one overly flattering (much like the high-waisted pants many celebs are currently sporting). I think the colour is far too harsh, at least for everyday wear. I could see it being more of a clubbing look, however it is definitely not for me.

No no no. This look is gross, she looks creepy.

i’m already dark and imagine if i put it on, i’d be laughing at myself!! i don’t think i’d look to good!!

i wore black lipstick once as a child when i was dressed as a witch…why on earth would anyone want to wear black lipstick unless its for halloween.

- amber on

A person in a right state of mind would never wear black lipstick.

this look is probably best saved for the runways and magazine spreads. i don’t see it happening in everyday life–especially w/the ‘trendsetters’ in hollywood.
