Hot Trend Alert: Snake Jewelry

03/20/2007 at 11:00 AM ET

Even though she was already dripping in Boucheron diamonds when she arrived at the recent C Magazine and Boucheron event, Dita von Teese couldn’t resist popping on this dazzling 35 carat one-of-a-kind diamond snake bracelet too. And we don’t blame her — snake jewelry is popping up everywhere, even in more affordable stores than Boucheron, where Dita’s bracelet will run you a cool $163,000. Here are a few of our favorite snake charmers.

Earrings:Try Adina Reyter Silver Snake Earrings, $99 at shopbop.com, or go smaller with Silver Snake Studs, $8 at amazon.com.

Rings: Try a Kenneth Jay Lane Sparkle Snake Ring, $78 at shopintuition.com, or go with a Silver Snake Ring, $28 from evesaddiction.com.

Bracelets: Try a Gold Snake Bracelet, $70 at metmuseum.org, or splurge on a 18kt Gold Cobra bangle, $95 at ross-simons.com.

Necklaces: Try a Snake Pendant Necklace, $10 at girlprops.com, or add sparkle with a Pavé Snake necklace, $20 at emitations.com. Go real with a Manon von Gerkken 14K Gold and Diamond Necklace, $612 at ronherman.com.

Wow, some of the “bargain” deals mentioned above are actually good deals, if you like the jewelry. Not my absolute favorite, but kinda cute. When I buy jewelry, I make sure it is real, so I like to wait a bit before purchasing a possible “fad” piece like this one – just to make sure it’s not going to be “out” the next day. But I do kinda like this jewelry.

snake jewelry is a good investment piece; it seems to resurface every couple of seasons or so…

Not interested in wearing animal jewelry unless it’s in the form of a cat from Cartier! Maybe I’m a bit prejudiced against snakes because they’re terrifying!!

No, thanks.

I love the snake trend! I figure if it has been around since Cleopatra’s time, it’s bound to keep coming back into fashion. Emitations also has a snake bracelet kinda like the one Dita von Teese is wearing, but for under 30 bucks. It isn’t quite as blinged out, but I just love the look of the snake wrapped around your wrist.

Dita was married to Marylin Mason i really can’t let her dictate my fashion sense.

Why would we follow a trend of the soon-to-be ex-wife of Maryln Manson?!? No way! I don’t even think the look is fashionable. I’m not even sure if the biggest a-lister in Hollywood sported the snake line, I would like it! Just not my style.

I never understand why people will disregard Dita just because who she was married to. Soo what? She has great fashion sense better than most of the “fashion starlets”, I’ve seen around lately. Her style of dress might be old school but its well put together and always impeccable.

Regarding the snake…no thanks, they terrify me real or not

I personally love this look. It’s hot and sexy! I bought Emitations Snake Necklace http://www.emitations.com/lypasnnesi.html about 3 months ago (it comes in gold too!)
and have gotten so many compliments. Now that the sultry look is moving forward with today’s fashion I’m expecting even more!

And yes, I just received the Snake Bracelet http://www.emitations.com/posnbr.html

Really? how can you beat these prices?
