Are You A Trend-Slave Like Ugly Betty's Amanda?

03/16/2007 at 05:00 PM ET

Last night’s episode of Ugly Betty literally had us convulsing with laughter when snarky receptionist Amanda (Becki Newton) donned an outfit that looked more like a torture device than a dress. After being told she was avant-garde designer Oswald Lorenzo’s new “muse,” Amanda was presented with an original creation (named after her, no less) which she immediately slithered into. Once it was on, she couldn’t move her arms or walk without looking like a duck. As Lorenzo’s “assistant” explained, “fashion is a pain.”

We’re all slaves to fashion sometimes — blister-inducing stilettos, insanely skinny skirts, bags that weigh down our shoulders — but we want to know: How much of a trend-slave are you? If you were given a one-of-a-kind creation would you wear it, even if it was a pain? What’s the farthest you would go to suffer for fashion?

my big bags sometimes make my back kill. and most of my shoes kill my feet but they are all pretty cheap so there you go.

I AM OBSESSED WITH FASHION ITS MY PASSION but i would never go that far! Its not worth compromising your dignity for! I would go as far as the planet pluto for fashion but not if its something that would compromise my principles!

Fashion is important to me, but I wouldn’t wear something that I’m uncomfortable in. The only painful sacrifice that I sometimes make for fashion is wearing heels!

I’m not much of a trend slave at all. I only wear clothing I’m comforting in; if I don’t feel comfortable, I don’t feel confident, and then what’s the point?

I can be, but I hope to think I wouldn’t go that far…

YES I WOULD! Fashion is my life and I would wear painful things to look good. It’s only a day of torture. It will be over before we all know it so I totally would.

If it were a one of a kind creation and I didn’t feel like it was crossing a line of showing too much of what didn’t need to be shown then I would totally wear it. I don’t know how often but it’d be kinda fun at first I think. And on the topic of blistering stilettos, what girl hasn’t fallen in love with a pair of shoes and then said something like, I can’t buy them because they hurt? Not me!

i would go pretty far but only if i could still walk without looking like a freak!!!!
