America Ferrera’s Affordable Red Carpet Look

The Ugly Betty star and Golden Globe winner stepped out for the Television Festival in Los Angeles wearing head-to-toe Kenneth Cole — which means that unlike other red carpet looks, this one is surprisingly afforable.  The actress played up her curves in a cinched waist dress, that’s available in purple for only $188 here. Her adorable red strappy sandals, which are also available in black, purple and blue can be picked up at Kenneth Cole’s online shoe shop for $170. Too bad an award-winning show wasn’t that easy to get!

Reese Witherspoon Says No More Pink!

It’s nice to know that Reese Witherspoon has wardrobe dilemmas like rest of us. “I recently put a big pile of clothes on the floor of my closet, and I looked at a lot of the stuff and thought, ‘That’s not me at all! What was I thinking?’” the Oscar winning actress tells Harper’s Bazaar in the magazine’s new issue. “[For Legally Blonde] I went through a pink phase like you wouldn’t belieeeve,” says the actress who recently made a big statement in a yellow Nina Ricci dress at the Golden Globes. “Then there was a Marni phase when I was doing Sweet Home Alabama that was out of control.” Gracing the cover of Bazaar’s “Look Great At Every Age” issue, the newly single mom says she celebrated her big three-oh birthday last spring “playing Boggle and eating fried chicken” with her friends. And, as it turns out, being a Friend-of-Reese’s comes with more perks than mere Boggle matches. “I give away a lot of shoes. It’s really nice to be me. And it’s really nice to be my friend who has the same shoe size.”

Vivienne Westwood Exhibition Opens In San Francisco

What’s the reason Gwyneth Paltrow buys — not borrows — gowns from Vivienne Westwood? Could be that one style icon recognizes another. The English-born designer Westwood claims her place in sartorial history with her retrospective, Vivienne Westwood: 36 Years in Fashion, that opened at San Francisco’s de Young Museum this week. Wandering through the exhibit is like walking down King’s Road in London and soaking up the very essence of brilliant English style. You can see the God Save the Queen t-shirt that Sid Vicious famously wore, with safety pins piercing the monarch’s image; the red-and-black hunting jacket that Amanda Pays donned in Oxford Blues with a 20-year-old Rob Lowe; the designer’s trendsetting mini-crinis; imaginative gowns that graced supermodels such as Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington; and the pair of 12-inch platforms that toppled Naomi Campbell on the runway in 1993. “Even after her fall, she still walked my next show,” says Westwood. “She was backstage crying and I heard her say, ‘Oh no, I have to wear those shoes again!” Visit the museum’s site for more info on the exhibit.

The Scoop On Carmen Electra’s Runway Tumble

Carmen Electra had some pre-show jitters before the the Max Factor Salutes Hollywood Fashion Show to benefit Clothes off Our Back. She warned everyone (including fellow celeb strutters Denise Richards and Kristen Cavallari), “Be careful, ladies – it’s slippery!” Hoping to avoid a spill, stylist Nicole Chavez, padded the bottoms of their Stuart Weitzman three-inch heels and sprayed them with hairspray and ginger ale so they would have some traction. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop Carmen from taking a tumble during her second trip down the runway (in a blue Kevin Hall gown). When Days of Our Lives’ star Allison Sweeney, tried to help her up, Sweeney fell too! (Don’t worry, both were fine afterwards.) To avoid more falls, Chavez ordered them to finish the show with heels in hands. Chavez, who styles Rachel Bilson and Ashlee Simpson, says the decision made all the difference, “When the shoes came off, their personalities came out and it was fun.” The head-to-toe looks from the show will be up for auction on Clothes off Our Back starting March 16.
