I’m actually surprised there aren’t more scents like this out there. I suppose it’s silly to point out the power of scent in this particular forum, but we don’t always consider the neurological impact of scents. We all know that when we smell certain scents we are immediately transported to some time in our past. Freshly mown lawns put us in mind of lazy Saturday afternoons; popcorn smells take us immediately to the movie theatre we frequented when we were kids; a passing whiff from a scented woman will remind us of a lost love. Our memories tend to be very tied to smell. And I think that we forget how often we are exposed to scents in our environment. I remember exactly what my grandmother’s house used to smell like. Or the streets of the little town where I grew up. It might be that it wouldn’t work – that people would be frustrated if people smelled like the places they had been –, but if you’re someone who likes the scent you wear because YOU can smell it, it seems like it would be quite nice to walk around in a little bubble that took you back to some favorite nook. And then, there’s always Kramer’s “The Beach.”
