How to Be a Chanel Girl — Crimp Your Hair!

abaca

I thought the closest I’d get to being a Chanel girl is my logo sunglasses, but today’s Fall ’07 show in Paris revealed an even cheaper way to get the look of France’s most exclusive brand: crimp my hair. All the models at the show sported some crimped strands — though thankfully not the whole head. Backstage, as they waited between shows (Chanel does two back-to-back shows – one for press and another for clients and buyers), the models sported white lab coats over their outfits and either Chanel ballet flats or platform wedge white tennis shoes (take that, Uggs!). As for the show itself: Lots of sporty chic, slender skirts and — you guessed it — tweed, shown on a runway of artificial snow in Paris’s Grand Palais. Above hung fabric clouds, which at the end released a shower of “snow,” a.k.a confetti – dusting a front row that included Chanel-clad Jessica Biel and casually dressed British singer Lily Allen. Said designer Karl Lagerfeld: “I felt like doing a very chilled décor as we are always talking of global warming, to reassure people.” I, for one, felt totally chilled out.

Crimped hair should stay in the the 80′s. It looks terrible. I’m just wondering how this model knew where to walk with her hair infront of her eyes? LOL!

Are they covering her face to focus everyone’s attention on the dress? The hair looks horrible. The dress actually looks nice from this picture, I’d like to see the whole thing.

A Chanel girl? LOL what’s this world coming to!

She either got too close to the barbque pit or her ciggie lighter?

Umm…I like Chanel, but crimped hair? NO THANKS! You cant even focus on the beautiful dress in that picture above because of the model’s wacky hair!

Oh and heres a sentence I never thought I would read…”platform wedge white tennis shoes”. WTF?!?!

Crimping is so 1980. Please don’t let that come back into style!

I would rather straighten my hair than crimp it. Crimp hair is disturbingly dowdy.

I have to say, I saw the Chanel show and I did notice the hair, but it didn’t really appeal to me. I kind of saw it more as presentation then an actual trend. I remember when I used to crimp my hair back in the 3rd grade and that’s all crimped hair reminds me of nowadays.

I did this look when I was in 2nd grade. No way. I guess we’ve ran out of hairstyles, so we have to go back into the 80′s late 90′s for something “new”.

Yeah, crimped hair doesn’t work for me. I think it should be less focus on the models, and more on the clothes. Thats what the brand is! not hair.. !
