Oscar Trendwatch: Big Diamond Bracelets

As thousands of carats of diamonds sparkled on Oscar’s red carpet, we found ourselves mostly staring at wrists. From Nicole Kidman’s 375 carat raw diamond cuffs (valued at one million dollars each!) to Rinko Kikuchi’s “Dentelle de Camelia” from Chanel, large cuffs made a major statement. Another popular wrist-trend: the stacking of multiple diamond bracelets to give the illusion of one bold piece — Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow were prime examples of this look. If you can’t borrow from Fred Leighton like some of these lucky ladies, here are a few fabulous fakes worth checking out.

For a bold cuff, try Viola’s 7.5 Inch CZ Flower Cuff Bracelet on Amazon.com, $189, or the 8 Row Rhinestone Bracelet, $25 on Girlprops.com.

For layering bangles, try the Margaux Stretch Cuff Round Crystal Bracelet, $25, on Target.com, or the Darlisa Rhinestone Bracelet, $7, at Forever21.com.

Katie Holmes’ Stone-Studded Updo

While others were deciding between long straight hair or retro curls — Katie Holmes had a more original idea in mind for her Oscars night updo. To accessorize her soft blush-toned Armani Prive dress, the actress added stone embellishments around her slicked back bun. And if those pale green stones look a touch familiar, they also graced Beyonce’s Armani Prive dress as well. We think the flash of pastel looks lovely against Katie’s dark hair, and it’s always nice to see something a little outside the norm that actually works! Will this be the next big trend?

Secrets of the Set: Drew’s Denim

Drew has been glamming up the red carpet promoting her new movie Music and Lyrics, co-starring Hugh Grant, but on camera the star is relaxed and casual in one of her favorite brands of jeans: Joe’s! Drew exclusively wears Joe’s throughout the whole movie, like the “Billy” Socialite she wears in a scene to the left. Off set, Drew has been a Joe’s fan since the company launched in 2001. Accroding to a Joe’s rep, the starlet loves mostly all the fits and rinses. Other than the Socialite, some of her favorite styles are Lover, Cigarette, and trouser fits in clean, medium-dark, indigo rinses and neutral overdyes such as black, charcoal and white.

Which Look Do You Like For Penelope: Oscars Gown or Party Dress?

Penelope Cruz was one of the undisputed standouts of the Oscar red carpet in her elaborte Atelier Versace gown. But the Spanish beauty changed out of the shredded chiffon floor-sweeper into a pearl and crystal encrusted Chanel Couture dress for the Vanity Fair party after the show that we’re just not as sure about. Penelope rarely mis-steps, but the Chanel dress doesn’t seem as flattering to us. Tell us: Which look do you like better for Penelope? Her Oscar gown or her after-party dress?

Who Was Oscar’s Most Dashing Guy?

Watching all the lovely gowns float down the red carpet was a lot of fun, but our hearts didn’t truly skip a beat until we caught a glimpse of Mr. Clive Owen looking debonair his Georgio Armani black-on-black tux with velvet lapels and — gasp — no tie! Most other gentleman kept their looks very traditional, none more perfectly presented than Leonardo DiCaprio, also in Armani, in his exquisitely tailored suit. Diego Luna and Gael Garcia pushed the envelope just slightly, opting for black suits with skinny ties instead of tuxes. While nominee Peter O’Toole showed just a bit o’ spunk in a black-and-purple brocade smoking jacket. But tell us, which Oscar guy is best dressed in your eyes? Clive? Leo? Will? Let us know what you think here!
