Beauty Trendwatch: Deep Red Lips

We’ve been spotting red lips pop up on everyone from Cameron Diaz to Beyonce, but some stars are taking the look one step further with a dark crimson. More dramatic and edgy than the old Hollywood scarlet lips, these dark reds are turning up on the mouths of trendsetters like Kate Winslet, Ashley Olsen and Gwyneth Paltrow. Not for the weak of heart or the imperfect of skin, a color this dark has to be worn carefully — try a nude lip liner underneath to keep it from creeping and a hit of blush to keep you from looking like Elvira is key. Just remember to keep eye makeup to a minimum to amp up the hit of color on your mouth.

Although I like red lipstick, this super dark color makes them look more like Ronald McDonald the clown me to me.

With fair skin I think the crimson color is just so overpowering, that you really don’t notice their beauty.

I am split on this trend. A part of me thinks that the color is just a bit to harsh, but in the case of Ashley it really brings out her eyes.

NO IT DOESNT… It looks very classy and regal. It’s a beautiful color that must be worn carefully, and only those who know how to carry it off will look wonderful in it.
I LOVE IT!! A++++++++++++

I love the color on Kate Winslet. I love this color of lipstick, I wear this color a lot, because it’s dark, and I prefer something in more darker tone, than something really bright on my lips. Whereas I think I look funny with just plain red lipstick, because it’s so bright.

too dark of a red color for the lips and not at all pretty to the eyes and face.

This color can only be pulled off by women with darker complexions.
