I’ve heard Hellen say before about the dull wardrobe and how much she dreaded looking at it at first. I guess that’s what makes her a good actress; that she was able to look past all the external factors and really relate internally with the character.

She is quite dumpy(that good old German bloodline does it everytime) and a tad on the frumpy side(THE UNIFORM – dress coat, dress, nude stockings, gloves, hat, necklace, shoulderpin, matching shoes and handbag). Helen Mirren is sleek and elegant. How else would you achieve the look without padding? I’m sure Helen wasn’t interested in doing a “Bridgette Jones” even if she did win an Oscar for the role.
