What's Rinko Kikuchi's Red Carpet Personality?

02/19/2007 at 06:00 AM ET

Rinko Kikuchi, nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Babel, is definitely this award season’s Wild One.

Signature Look: Never afraid to be labled a red carpet Don’t, the Babel star pushes the envelope in dresses that are unapologetically couture. She lets her scene-stealing gowns take center stage, keeping her hair (often in an updo or soft curls) and makeup (pale lips and smoky eyes) simple.

Favorite Designers: Kikuchi has been loyal to Karl Lagerfeld, wearing Chanel dresses, shoes and fine jewelry almost exclusively the entire awards season.

What She Will Wear: Hmm…perphaps Chanel?

The 1st on is alright but I don’t care for the other 2. Her taste is too out there for me. I know I’ve read that she is dressing to what it is like where she comes from but that still won’t change my mind about her fashion choices. Well, atleast she does stand out.

Rinko has got an eccentric personality.

Rinko Kikuchi definitely has some wild style. I don’t like her dresses at all, for such a pretty face she can go to some really wild horizons!

she has original sense of style, she looks cute like that she might go for chanel.

It doesn’t matter what she wears, she still looks gorgeous. Love her style!

I think Chanel again though I think she should go in a different direction. The 3rd dress with the puffs hanging down the bottom looked really nice when I saw it go down the runway at the Chanel show but not so flattering on her. I would love to see her experiment with someone new. I think she would look chic if she tried Luca Luca or possibly Prada.

she’s adorable and i love that she’s not afraid to try something different. it would be cool to see her in a more polished look however once in awhile. but overall, i love how she pushes the envelope!!

She could make a burlap dress look good.

I think she’s a cute risk taker, and has been doing pretty good on the red carpet. Others seem to be dissing her a lot, however I think it’s because she is a “nobody” in the industry although she is nominated for an Oscar. If Cate Blanchett was to wear any of the outfits they would all be a hit. You go Rinko!

She is absolutely adorable. She seems to have such a sweet personality. I do like the middle picture of her dress. I really wish the black shear didn’t go so low though. I think it would have looked cute if it ended on the hemline of the dress. I don’t care for the short in the front and the long in the back dress, in the first photo. I really wish the dress was just long, I think it would have looked beautiful. The last picture, I do like the dress, but I don’t like that many puff balls hanging. So my favorite dress is the middle picture. She’s definitely got an essentric style. I say go for it, just don’t show up on the red carpet with a swan dress at the Oscars, lol, but than again, she may pull it off, considering how beautiful she is.

P.S.: “Babel” is a great movie.
