It’s a very good point Erica, I have often felt the same way. I think life should be celebrated. No wonder people get so bored, especially in the winter, in highschool we would have dances to look forward to. I think sometimes as adults we get so stuck in routines and we don’t let ourselves have enough healthy fun.

I love dressing up too. I would buy dresses when I didn’t have events to go to just becasue I love the dressy look so much. It’s true people don’t get gussied up enough. I say go to that party a little over dressed and maybe people will follow your lead in the future. If you stand out in your fancy garb that’s a good thing. I’d rather be over dressed than under dressed. If people tease you tease them back, a girl in a great dress/outfit will always win.

Here are some ideas:
-Throw a formal party at home
-Buy tickets to a charity ball or charity event.
-Create a charity ball or event
-Get some friends together and rent a hall/luxury hotel suite and have a party/event.
-Get all dressed up and get a friend/family member or photographer to take some pictures of you that you can frame and treasure.
-Have a romantic night with your equivalent other get all dressed up and have a candle lit dinner at home.
-Go to a fancy hotel for dinner all dressed up, they are so used to proms and weddings they don’t even notice.
-Shaperone a dance at a school
-Crash weddings and proms (joking, but it sounds fun)

My hubby and I do these things and really enjoy it, except the crashing of events(maybe someday). My husband and I are renewing our vows at home and getting all decked out in our wedding gear this summer. It will cost as much as a small cake and some flowers (we have decorations). We are going to take lots of pictures. It’s fun and romantic. I refuse to spend that much on a dress and wear it once. Some men aren’t too keen at first when it comes to dressing up but once they see how much it can spice things up and how grateful their woman will be they come around.

Anyway, I just wanted to share some ideas.

P.S. I think if we can find opportunities to dress up we have it better than celebs. No offense but, I think many of them get sick of it or take it for granted it (so many awards shows and events). With all the camera’s and journalists, worst dressed lists, the award pressure and the whole networking and scmoozing thing ( a lot of them say it’s work for them).
