Muffin Tops And Corsets: Tyra Banks' Style Tips

01/31/2007 at 05:00 PM ET

After 17 years in the fashion business and dealing with her 30 pound weight gain, this week’s PEOPLE cover subject Tyra Banks has figured out a few key ways to stay looking good. Here are Tyra’s top tips:

1. Give up Super Low-Rise Jeans. “This whole low jeans thing is not a good look,” Banks says. “Even the smaller girls are going to have a muffin top. I recommend a higher jean and darker colors.”

2. Spanx Your Booty. “I’ve got dimples in my booty. There’s nothing wrong with Spanx or control tops. And if you can handle it, there’s nothing better than a corset. Find someone who can lace it up for you, it pushes everything down and up.”

3. A Cinch in a Snatch. “That’s what my stylist Yaniece and I call being locked into the cinched belt. My breasts are getting bigger so if I get loose clothing, it looks too unshapely. You ask ‘Where’s the body?’ Even when it’s out of fashion, wear it!”

4. Let Your Personality Shine, Not Your Clothes. “Women, don’t wear anything shiny or satiny. Those kinds of materials catch the light and makes [you] look bigger.”

Tyra is soooo nice and pretty but I think her hair should be a little darker to look more natural

I just hate the color of Tyra’s hair! Is it grey now? Tyra is pretty but her hair makes her look soooo ugly! Tyra please wear something that looks natural, not something orange like your last weave, hello!

I love Tyra… Shes beautyfull, intelligent, funny… But the most important thing, is that she has a lot of self steem… It´s a good example for a lot of young girls to follow… And the people that say that she’s fat, they’re crazy… She’s not fat, she’s curvy, and looks like a real woman… She has the luck, that she doesn’t have to be super skinny, for her body to look the way it does…Keep working it girl… U rock!!!!

Tyra Banks is a stunning woman who is living her life in the spotlight. If people think she is fat that’s their opinion, but my opinion is that they are really stupid. She looks great. She looked great at the start of her career and she looks great now. I can’t believe that the same tabloid magazines that reported only weeks ago on the deaths of anorexic fashion models took this photo and pounced on a fashion Icon who made it through those very pitfalls. I don’t like that she is being unfairly attacked but, I guess diamonds would’nt sparkle unless they underwent tremendous pressure.
