Yeah for Tyra!!! And Beyonce and Kate Winslett…. I don’t want my daugther growing up trying to look like the Olson Twins or Natalie Portman. I want my daughter to be healthy and happy with herself no matter what her size is compared to other people. The most beautiful thing about a woman is how confident she is with herself – you go Tyra!!! Don’t listen to the negative – you are a good role “model” – keep it up!!!

Tyra looks healthy and happy! Good for her!

Tyra looks amazing! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

Rebecca

Yay for Tyra! Finally a model dares to not weight 5lbs!!! I am a big girl and I think Tyra looks beautiful, screw the tabloids!

Kayla

Tyra Banks is a beautiful. Just because she isnt a size 2 anymore, doesn’t mean she isn’t beautiful. Who cares if she’s gained weight?? She is a host of the show and a RETIRED model..and MODELS do have expectations to meet. Have you ever seen the host to “The biggest Loser” She isn’t small by any means…just because she is a host to a modeling show, doesn’t mean she has to be skinny. She went through all those years probably not eating alot…and now she is living her life without any expectations. She is beautiful and someone to look up too!

Sarah

I agree with kelly girl…..I want my daughters to grow up with healthy looking role models! My 8 year old adores Trya and Top Model. She knows that you don’t have to be stick thin to be what you truly want to be.

Tyra, you be the person you want to be…and keep up the good work!

I think Tyra is an inspiration to all women as well as teens. The critics/tabloids don’t care who they talk about, as long as they make the all mighty dollar. I’m super happy she is firing back!

A few thoughts:

1. I remember when those bathing suit photos first came out – I remember very clearly looking at them and thinking “what am I supposed to be seeing here? She looks fine to me!”

2. Tyra is no longer a model, she’s a talk show host, and as such her weight is immaterial to her ability to do her job.

3. As host of America’s Next Top Model, sure, she’s critical of the bodies of women who want to be models. However, for years that right has been reserved mostly for male fashion designers who are physically incapable of emulating the body shape they require and no one’s complained about that.

Amy

Why is wieght such an issue for the tabloids?????
If your small – they accuse you of being anorexic. If you put on wieght or are curvy -they accuse you of being overwieght.
There is no escaping the criticism of the media. You can be damn near perfect and someone will find something to judge you about.
I feel sorry for people who fall into this trap. We are all human and built different! Power to all the ladies.

I’m proud of Tyra. Even in her so-called “fat” picture that the tabloids took, it’s not like she’s obese! I am so sick of the stick-think standard society has for women. The fact of the matter is, a very minute portion of the population is that thin and tall with model-esque porportions. The only thing that struck me was her last comment about models have to be thin….there are “plus-size” models. I put the “plus-size” in quotations due to the fact that even most of them are a size 10–hardly plus size.

I think it’s awesome that she isn’t ashamed of her weight and is not ashamed to stand up and say HELLO I’M NOT FAT!! A lot of people could learn from her!
