How To Get Ugly Betty's Favorite T-Shirt

01/18/2007 at 06:00 AM ET

By now, we all know that Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera is anything but ugly in real life. The adorable Golden Globe winner stopped by TRL recently, wearing a fun t-shirt paying homage to her runaway hit show (also a Globes winner). If you’re a fan too, why not pick up America’s tee for only $25 at ABCTVstore.com. The net proceeds of the shirt benefit Girls Inc., an online community that inspires all girls to be smart, strong and bold. Now it’s official — Ugly is in!

I’m, not sure I’d wear a shirt like this, it seems more for a teenager.

I love the show. It is a great show for those of us who are not a size one at work it is ok to be healthy.

I wanted to buy the Ugly Betty shirt, but XL is on back order. XXL is not even offered… There are, however, PLENTY of XS for those cute waifs !!

America Ferrera is wonderful. I just feel like this so Hollywood, she has a great figure and is so pretty. Would a true UGLY BETTY actually get work in hollywood? Maybe an UGLY BARNEY, but it’s different with women. In the movies the homely guy falls for the beauty and he gets her in the end. At this point it’s such a double standard. I would love to see a true Ugly Betty (with an actress who actually didn’t fit the socially pretty mold) romantic comedy where the sweetheart girl ends up with the hunk and she never gets the makeover. At the end of a movie like that you’d find everyone thinking the girl was beautiful because a good heart is the true meaning of beauty. When you know a person the appearance just kind of melts into their personality. The closest we ever got to a true UGLY BETTY movie that I know of was THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS with Jeanine Garofollo who is a real cutie, she’s a pretty and funny girl. The truth is Hollywood is nowhere near ready to accept a real Ugly Betty and I find that unfortunate truth HIDEOUSLY UGLY! America is lovely and the T-shirts is cute but it just encourages the whole outward obsession which we are all guilty of.

America is obviously not an ugly betty in real. she is a beautiful and successful girl. However, the she isn’t your stereotypical Hollywood blond and the show is really refreshing. That is a step in the right direction. Charla, you can’t expect Hollywood to suddenly be something its never going to be. The industry as a whole is all about money and beauty sells. We all by into it to a certain extent. The show is better than a lot of the trash on tv these days and it is great to see America as a role model for girls. As for the shirt, maybe the store will realize that XL and XXL people buy clothes too and make more of these sizes available. I hope the show sticks around and sends a message that some of us don’t want to watch remakes of 90210 every season!
