I think Victoria Beckham has a unique style of her own. I like Katie but I think Victoria has a much better sense of style – hell, she’s married to the most handsome man alive and that’s enough style for me! I don’t think she needs to change a thing!

Why would a european woman (where fashion is so advanced) want to conform to American style. I hope it’s the other way around. LA could use a classy fashionista to remind them that dressing can be fun and creative. If the golden globes were any indication I think Posh needs to give some fashion help to everyone, not receive it. It’s kind of typical American arrogance, the kind that gets us into constant trouble, thinking we know best about everything. How about we open up and learn a little for a change. Europe is a much older part of the world, with more established fashion. Posh is a great representation of that, she was named for her fashion sense what other celeb can say that. So I suggest everyone sit back and learn a little something about class. Pink sweatpants indeed, I’m sure she wears them just not in public where they don’t belong anyway. Maybe she could bring back some of the old hollywood class that is so absent in these SAD, SAD anti-pantie days.

ok Katie Holmes does not define all american style to me. she was on a show that was popular and small parts in a few movies. she did not become this BIG deal until she married crazy ass Tom Cruise. she still wouldn’t be a big deal. what does she do escept wear expensive clothes? she hasn’t been in anything since Batman and she stunk in it.

As for her clothes, she dresses far to conservatively and although her outfits are probably very expensive she could stand to try something a little less over-the-top to go shopping and save the glam for the evening.

Why does every American always say “European”? As if we “Europeans” were all the same… Posh Spice does not dress like the prototypical British woman – she’s a brand name addict. She’s buys expensive brand names and thinks that’s the same as style. Anyone who’s ever been to Europe knows that the women (and men) in each country dress totally differently. We don’t have the same stores everywhere in Europe and if we do then they don’t all sell the same clothing (except maybe H&M’s). Americans shouldn’t sell themselves short either, I regularly see great stuff on American online-stores and hate the fact that they don’t ship overseas!

Charla – let’s take it down a notch or two, eh? I’m pretty sure that, among the reasons Europeans dislike us, “think they dress better” probably isn’t high on the list. I think the author here was probably trying to say that style in California and style in England are different, that Katie might have a better sense of it than Posh, and that she therefore could be helpful in getting Posh acclimated.
If you’re trying to be more casual, showing up someplace dressed like a throw pillow isn’t going to cut it.

I like how every one of the off the racks start with a nice topic then random people just start picking apart and insulting a celebrity’s physical features. No wonder we live in a society where women are so obsessed with their appereance and an upsetting percentage of them suffer from some form of eating disorder. Why don’t we just stick to the topic and not insult someone because they are too skinny, fat, have an odd nose, etc.

I agree with Georgie, please don’t believe that Posh represents a “European” sense of style; because there is no such thing as European style. Mrs Beckham’s outfits are not always beautiful, and sometimes her sense of style is really exagerated ans makes her look ridiculous. She’s probably the only person I have ever seen wearing stilettos to the beach in Saint Tropez, when everybody else was moving around in (expensive) flip-flops. Having a sense of style is also about feeling what is appropriate to wear, and what is not, and this is something she is apparently lacking.

I agree with Kelly. These blogs are vicious…but I have been guilty of picking people apart too. But I think they kind of expect that. It’s like the tabloids; nasty comments are “juicier” and more exciting to read.

Personally I think both women look pretty here. I love Katie’s coat– I wonder where she bought it? Probably Barney’s as that seems to be her store of choice. And also most likely WAY out of my price range. I would like Posh’s dress better if she cut off the frilly stuff at the top.

How can you say she dresses conservatively and formally? Obviously you haven’t seen pictures of her at home in the UK. She usually wears jeans and a t-shirt, hot pants (as one of the WAGS watching David’s matches) and dresses very stylishly when going out to something more formal or when traveling. You cannot criticize her fashion sense as it is right on the mark so you have to attack the shape of her nose. How low can you guys stoop! Americans can learn some fashion tips from Victoria as you are not the most stylish..especially when traveling abroad in your baggy shorts and flip flops looking like slobs.

The way VB dresses for LA paparazzi is not what she wears the rest of the year. Check any British site she’s on and you’ll see her with trademark jeans, t-shirt and baseball cap. It is notable that there are fashion nuances from region to region. People get easily offended by generalization which is understandable. It’s true that you can’t genralize about style in Europe. Fashion differs from country to country throughout the entire continent. It also happens to differ from person to person all over the world. The notion that anyone should conform due to their geographic location is quite silly. I like that Posh often dresses elegantly. Although I do not respect her lavish lifestyle, I seperate the two.
In any case the problem is conformity, no one should ever be expected to conform. I hope she doesn’t. On a side note,I mean this without offense and I honestly hope I am wrong, I like to see marriages succeed, but I have a feeling Hollywood will be the end of Posh and Bucks. It just seems to be the Disney World of DYSFUNCTION!

I used to like Posh but I think she has become so sour (like others have said) and is way to uptight for someone her age. I hope LA loosens her up a bit and she finally smiles. I also don’t think she has amazing style, she just has the money to buy nice designer clothes. It’s all too rehearsed and it looks like she’s always trying to hard. A style icon doesn’t have to try, it comes natural. Without going on too much I feel when she finds a style she wears it to death. My God how long was she in hotpots and waist coats !!!!! I think that Katie has a rather nice fashion sense (apart from the eternal big sun-glasses). Very classic and simple. I would wear the same stuff if I could afford it (both money- and figure-wise). If you thought of the typical “high-class” British woman, she would more likely pass as one than Posh Spice.
I’m quite glad they’re removing themselves off to America, maybe the tabloids here won’t be as full of them then. Unfortunately we can then look forward to seeing more of Posh (and her adorable nose) in People then…:-(

Even if some of her choices may be out there, Victoria is still usually spot on with her fashion, and at least we never see her running around looking unwashed like an Olsen or one of that set. Let’s not complain about the women that actually take care of themselves, as more and more starlets look like oily orange creatures with muppet hair and sweats.

she is very “old-fashioned” in a way in the style she dresses (victoria)… though the fashions are modern it is far from every-day to actually walk around in those outfits. she looks like she belongs on a runway, rather than on a sidewalk. In the 1800’s and early 1900’s it was definitely a european thing for rich women to dress in high fashions whenever they were seen in public, but today i think she’d be alone on the street. the fashion is great but it is NOT for normal public display. honestly, it’s a bit ridiculous

First of all victoria does look too overdressed.. you would have to LIVE in CALI to know that. Cali is more laid back comfortable yet cute style at night like in this picture. PLUS IT was probably cold.. ( therefore Katie’s coat) Especially at a casual restaurant. You would HAVE TO WANT ATTENTION on purpose to wear something like that just to a restaurant. plus it doesn’t even look comfortable.
It’s all about who you are.. Katie looks like she’s sure of herself.. whereas victoria looks out of place..scared.. and STUCK UP.

katie’s sweet smile is better than any dress no matter how different or expensive it is. You should look at the face too.. not only the clothes.. it’s the person!
*plus it’s not like Katie dresses like this to awards or whatever!! It’s a restaurant… you sit and eat.

Whoah, are you kidding me? Victoria doesn’t need to fit in, she’s born to stand out. She is a wonderful dresser, and i love her style. She makes an effort to look presentable, not like other celebrities who even forget that they should wear an underwear.

Second, Katie is not the picture of all-American elegance. And Victoria has the best accessory that Katie doesn’t have.. a so-called David Beckham!

Lastly, heaven forbid if Victoria starts wearing a pink sweatsuit and Uggs. First of all, people in the UK are gonna make fun of her and call her a chav, which is not a good thing for a woman with a fashion sense. Second, look at the pictures when she was in Germany for the World Cup.. wearing a tank top and shorts and all that, so she also knows how to dress casually.

This woman looks grossly undernourished. She needs to eat something..forget what she is wearing…she looks sick…what does it matter the lable in her clothing..what does it matter that she is married to a nice looking adulturous husband…she looks ill….looks like she needs help…she looks plastic and miserable with herself..she will fit right in with the rest of the celebritites in California.

I think she has a very ‘OUT THERE’ sense of fashion & its a constant! Wonder what she wears at home during her ‘down time’!? Hopefully Katie can tone her down quite a bit. And I agree, she NEVER smiles! She’s not as ‘hot’ (imo) as SHE likes to think she is (too skinny)! Maybe she’ll loosen up a bit after coming to a country where style is EVERYWHERE, not just Hollywood & NY!

I live in Ireland and Posh and Becks, as they are known over this side of the world, are the king and queen in the celebrity palace. I adore victoria. I know she looks like she pouts WAY too much, but her personality is actually really likable. She’s incredibly funny! She just released a style book before christmas and I’d reccommend it to everyone. I like Katie, but she is nowhere near as stylish as Victoria. Posh changes her look every few months. At the moment shes in a really ‘grown up, sophisticated’ phase, what with her new pob (posh bob) and ive no doubt she’ll mix things up again in the near future!

Didn’t anyone notice how victoria COPIED Kaite’s wedding dress with that ruffle at the top of her black and white dress??? so-o-o-o obvious! As for the nose job- maybe she already had one and it was just a BAD job???

I have to say that I love Victoria’s style and that Katie could learn a thing or two from her. Maybe Katie will show up one of these days with a new haircut and some edgier clothes.
