Will Katie Teach Posh How To Be a California Girl?

01/17/2007 at 02:00 PM ET

Can the ultra-European Posh transfrom her trademark style to fit into L.A.? Her impeccably put together outfits of tailored dresses and sky high heels will hardly help the Brit blend into her new surroundings when she moves to California later this year. She already seems a bit out of place at the casual Ivy restaurant — but what if Katie Holmes, the picture of all-American elegance, helps Posh get her bearings just as the fashionista helped the young mom get glam before her wedding last year? We know that Katie is a shopping pro and could help Posh acclimate to SoCal, while avoiding the L.A. stereotypes (but don’t you kind of want to see Posh in a pink sweatsuit and Uggs?). Tell us: Do you think Posh will change her wardrobe to fit into L.A.? Are you excited to see more of Posh?

I read that Victoria doesn’t smile much because she doesn’t her own smile.

Completely agree that Posh has great style and doesn’t need to change a thing. I can’t see her, and hope I never do, wearing pink sweatpants and uggs.

And hey, don’t diss her nose!!! That is a very typically english nose just like I’ve got. You can totally tell she is a pure blood brit.

And as for the smiling, just because she doesn’t walk around with a ridculas grin on her face all the time doesn’t mean she’s miserable. She just has a stoical face, which is again typically British.

The only fashion advice that Katie could give to Posh is how to look loke a 50 year old mother-of-the-bride.

I think Katie should help out Victoria, Katie is elegant and beautiful whilst so called Posh is miserable and tacky.

Why does every American always say “European”? As if we “Europeans” were all the same… Posh Spice does not dress like the prototypical British woman – she’s a brand name addict. She’s buys expensive brand names and thinks that’s the same as style. Anyone who’s ever been to Europe knows that the women (and men) in each country dress totally differently. We don’t have the same stores everywhere in Europe and if we do then they don’t all sell the same clothing (except maybe H&M’s). Americans shouldn’t sell themselves short either, I regularly see great stuff on American online-stores and hate the fact that they don’t ship overseas!
Please don’t think that Posh Spice is the typical British style icon!!!

Victoria is SO my idol…SHE SHOULD NOT CHANGE HER LOOK! (Though she would look cute in sweats and uggs.) her look just says “victoria”, doesn’t it??

Charla – let’s take it down a notch or two, eh? I’m pretty sure that, among the reasons Europeans dislike us, “think they dress better” probably isn’t high on the list. I think the author here was probably trying to say that style in California and style in England are different, that Katie might have a better sense of it than Posh, and that she therefore could be helpful in getting Posh acclimated.
If you’re trying to be more casual, showing up someplace dressed like a throw pillow isn’t going to cut it.

By the way, you know what England would be without the U.S.? A medium-sized province of the German Empire.

Her husband had an affair that was very upsetting to her to say the least….he has been rumored to be with many women. So, the unhappy look is probably real…and I can understand why. She gets followed by the press constantly and doesn’t get much privacy.

I lived there and saw this first hand in the papers there daily.

She doesn’t look like the “average” British woman.
