Charla,
Thanks for your support!
I was just reading over that last bit I wrote. I was thinking too fast my last writings did not come out right!!
I meant to say...."I have one more thing to say"......

Plus, I have another quote for you.

"Fame is a vapor.
Popularity an accident.
Riches take wings.
Only one thing endures,
and that is Character."

-Horace Greeley.

Enigma,
your comments are always so encouraging to read. I fully agree. You seem to have a wonderful, clear view of what really matters in life.

This picture makes me laugh because when I was a very little girl I would try on all my grandmothers fine rings, stacked together, and then dance around in a party dress. Of course I was three years old! What's her excuse? ... Oh ya, she's mentally three years old. I feel that celebs have such a negative influence on society. It concerns me that young girls would much rather be the next Cameron Diaz instead of the next Mother Theresa. The media and celebs could make such a positve contribution to society, if only their powers were truely used for good.

The quote from Gandhi is incredible. My husband and I liked it so much we are going to make a wall hanging with his very wise words. Thank you for sharing them. We hope to always live by his sentiment. BBoth of us are trying very hard to make a difference in the world and it can be discouraging when one focuses too much on the behaviour of others. Change really does happen one person at a time, and it starts with ourselves.

For those who understand no explanation is necessary. For those who don't no explanation is enough.

I am shocked at such vulgarity! Yuck! Yuck!

Not, only is it absolutely disgusting to have that much cash wrapped around your fingers for one night just to promote an accessory but the fact of the film "Blood Diamonds" has been such a hot issue that it proves my theory that Cameron Diaz is a not terribly bright person.

Plus, diamonds are soooo overrated! I can somewhat understand why they have such high value because of the rarity but, the pricing and purchasing just strikes me as pure greed, vanity, self-indulgence, and all around selfish!

Charla, again, I agree with you! You always seem to mention in your comments "Life needs balance" which is so true! There are too many extremes and not enough self control and integrity in this society! And, of course Hollywood is the worst place to look for hope in this case!

Celebs are consumed by the riches and fame that is has ruined their fundamental psycological make-up, which is sad to see that so many succumb to the glam n' bling!

I have on more say thing to say and it's a quote from Gandhi...

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Hey Listerino Thanks. What you said was terrific! I'm so glad to hear such level headed and valuable comments. It's great that you know how to enjoy jewellery the right way. There is nothing wrong with nice modestly priced special pieces. It's these insane, out of this world expensive items that the rich and famous flaunt that are just so out of control. Life is about balance. I say it's cool to enjoy nice jewellery, just make sure it doesn't cost as much as a house or even a rent cheque, in my opinion!
I agree, although it is most likely borrowed, it's the existance and promotion of such overpriced baubles that is so offensive in the first place. If she doesn't own them some out of touch person will soon thanks to her wearing them. I don't know which is worse, owning offensive material or promoting it? Hmmm ... I bet Hollywood could answer that question in so many different ways. The only logical way rings should cost this much is if they are ancient artifacts, like they were dug out of Cleopatra's grave. Oh well, for now I will just try, clearly in vain, to pry them from the cold, dead hands of greedy celebs through my blog protesting.

Ugh, so tacky. Why would you wear all of those together? Do you feel that bad about yourself, you have to flaunt all those diamonds that could help buy a village? Sorry, but diamonds aren't going to help you feel better about yourself. Maybe using the money for the diamonds to build a village actually would.

Right on Charla I agree with you wholeheartedly!

When I saw this article I was disgusted.

How can anyone justify wasting that much money on jewellery when there are so many other ways the money could be used to better the world?

And yes I know that it's likely that she borrowed the jewellery from Cartier or wherever for free so she can promote it or however they usually justify this type of thing but just the fact that there are pieces of jewellery out there that are worth that much in the first place is sad. As everyone has said they look like cheap rip offs anyway so why not wear cheap fakes in the first place?

I have a ring that was less than $100 but everyone who sees it thinks it's worth thousands because of how well it's made. There's no way you can justify wearing that much money around on your hands Cameron!

Lisa, I was thinking exactly the same thing about the diamonds! She is supposed to be so "green" and environmentally conscious. I always thought she was weird looking and odd with her dress anyway. Give me Sophia Loren, Raquel Welch or even Angelina Jolie. Classy, sophisticated women, exotic, well put together not cookie cutter weird. Wearing that many rings looks just plain dumb and draws attention to how sloppy she looks.

"Keep your eyes open for more stars wearing lots and lots of bling on their fingers tonight at the Golden Globes"
I think it will be absolutely hilarious to watch people clap their diamond covered hands and sit in all their pretension draped in bling as they appplaud and cheer for the movie BLOOD DIAMOND. WHAT A JOKE! Wherever celebs bling comes from, the deeper issue is not just the sick and violent corruption in much of the diamond industry but how viciously greedy human beings can be. Oh yeah George Clooney was so right in his oscar speech Hollywood is so morally and ethically sensitive. Yeah, there's nothing more impressive than people who need bling to shine!

I don't know how to respect anyone who presumes to wear the price tag of a house on their fingers. It shows such immaturity and complete lack of perspective. I do enjoy looking at celebrity fashion for fun, fashion is enjoyable in healthy reasonably priced doses. However it worries me that people look at this behaviour and say "I wish I could do that" or "sure I'm going to go buy all those rings tommorrow". Why do people want to emulate these celebs who are so far removed from reality and descency. Is it any wonder they cannot keep a relationship? When your life is so insane that $157,600 means "oh goodie some fun stackable rings to go with my party dress" you can't possibly be grounded or emotionally healthy enough to find a lasting, loving and committed relationship!
