How Katherine Heigl’s Pooch Helped Pick Her Globes Jewels

Jeweler Ryan Ryan of Ryan Ryan and Company and Katherine Heigl weren’t introduced by an agent, manager or even stylist. In a very un-Hollywood twist of fate, the two were brought together by their veterinarian. A little over a year ago, Ryan took his dog Lucky to his vet, where he befriended the staff, including Katherine’s sister, Meg. Thinking the two dog lovers should meet, Meg put Katherine in touch with Ryan, laying the groundwork for a creative partnership.  Ryan says that he “immediately appreciated Katherine’s ability to define her own style,” and began to craft exclusive pieces for her. Last year he made pieces for her to wear to the 2006 Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Emmys. This year, Ryan is at it again, hard at work designing two incredible sets that Katherine will choose from to wear at Monday night’s Golden Globes. And you know their pooches will be there Monday as they chose which jewels she should wear.

Annette Bening’s Makeup Artist Gives Us the Scoop!

Makeup artist Julie Hewett will be dashing back to LA from the Ocean’s 13 set, where she tends to George Clooney, to do Annette Bening’s makeup for the Globes. Even though she has worked for sixteen years on “Annette’s beautiful canvas,” Hewett has to wait and see what the star is wearing before deciding on her colors, even with a lipstick in her cult makeup line for the Running With Scissors nominee. “You never know until the last minute which dress will work. We expect to take about two to three hours to get her ready. It’s always a dance between the makeup artist and hairdresser and sometimes a manicurist. We’ll see what we want to do that day – a smoky eye or a stronger lip.” And she’ll send the star off with one of her lip pencils and a Mimi lip-gloss, created not to be too sticky — lucky for hubby Warren who will no doubt get a congratulatory kiss for his Cecil B. DeMille award.

Desperate Housewives’ Beauty Fave

If they share the same taste in men, why not share the same taste in makeup? Turns out that Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria are both big fans of Aussie cult-brand Napoleon Perdis cosmetics. From the makeup line she calls “original and fun,” Hatcher stocks up on the Boudoir Mosaic Powders and the Long Black Mascara in Double Black. Meanwhile, Eva recently called the Auto Pilot Lip Service her favorite lip product. Must be great for all those trans-Atlantic flights she’ll take to visit fiancee Tony Parker’s family in France — the lip balm is a favorite among British Airways stewardesses as well! We hear that Nicollette Sheridan is a big fan of the brand, too — think their dolls come with miniature glosses?

Red Carpet Bling: Cameron’s Cocktail Rings

Well, she may not have Justin anymore, but Cameron Diaz had quite a lot of bling to keep her company at the People’s Choice Awards — over $150k in rings alone! These aren’t traditional stacking rings but rather, five large cocktail rings clumped together for maximum impact and cost. Add to that two bracelets valued at almost $80,000 and that’s almost $250,000 worth of Cartier diamonds. Phew! Keep your eyes open for more stars wearing lots and lots of bling on their fingers tonight at the Golden Globes.
