Chandra Wilson: Red Carpet Fashion Intervention

01/13/2007 at 06:00 AM ET

Who doesn’t love Chandra Wilson as tough-love Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy? She is riding high this awards season, not only nominated for a NAACP Image Award but also as the only female cast member of the hit show to be nominated for a SAG award. We’re thrilled for her, but it might be time to step it up a notch on the red carpet. The 5′ actress arrived to the People’s Choice Awards in a mauve satin pantsuit that is not only out of step with current trends, but didn’t do justice to the petite actress’s figure. That night, she told PEOPLE that she started picking out her awards show wardrobe in September and would be wearing a dress by Sherri Hill, who turns out to be a prom dress designer! Oh Chandra, you can do better than that — what about a great pantsuit from Donna Karan or Armani? We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the Globes on Monday night.

no offense, but with her height , she should’ve picked something more elegant and simpler like a black dress maybe up to her knees with a nice heels (not too high) and just simple accessories….. Obviously she dosen’t have a good taste in that area !!!!

No offense as well!

But, satin and silk fabrics have never looked really good on people who are over weight. I agree, with New R about the black dress (or even a red dress) and nice heels.

Cheers.

When bad fashion happens to good people, its so wrong that i don´t even know where to start. The only thing good is her make-up and hair

Oh… poor thing! It looks like she has just put on a hideous and tacky silk night gown that went awry! Not her best choice!

it’s horrible! The shiny satin sleeves just make her arms look a lot BIGGER which I believe she’s trying to hide. If I were the designer I would propose soft chiffon sheer sleeves to cover the arms, and a cocktail length dress to accommodate her height.
She’s a beautiful woman but now she looks like a giant ball of grapes! Sorry! Nothing personal. Just she has bad taste, she definitely need a stylist!

She looks fantastic. Please Chandra don’t listen to the critics. As a matter of fact, any chance you get tell them to BUZZ off (your too classy to say what I thought first of typing).

Def not a good choice. I’m short too and a little over weight myself. I wear black a lot and it doesn’t show height and weight as much. She should wear a black dress that is flowing and has sleaves. Black heals would be really good too. She should do her hair professionally. She shouldn’t wear her hair back.

What was she thinking?

Her scrubs would have been better than that. I totally agree with a previous post, a black dress above the knees would have been perfect.

Okay so the outfit isn’t the greatest but look at her she’s beaming.C’mon Y’all it’s the inside that counts.
